Stewarts gonna be an UFA in a year and could command decent $, theyd be smarter to keep him a year and get a 3rd or 4th compensatory from him, which im sure they could get with this new salary fkoor driving up prices

they might not wanna wait around a year with stewart wasting away.

if they can trade him away for a 4th now, why wait?

Exactly, get what you can now. If they sign Tolbert, thats a crowded backfield so they want to get what they can now before his touches lessen even more meaning his production and market value would decrease.

For us, I would give away even a 3rd. Its a win win. Any RB we would get in the 3rd would not be able to produce on this level. The best back we could probably get is maybe Chris Polk and thats a stretch in the 3rd. If we lose him to FA, we would likely get at least a 4th for him, practically netting the cost, or we could resign him and let Greene walk and get a 4th or 5th from him from comp pick.

We could get a pretty solid back this draft for a 3rd too, and have him under contract for the next 5 years at a very affordable rate.

Plus being able to ease him in with Greene as the bellcow

I dont think we could get any back that could contribute any special with a 3rd. IMO, we would have to spend a 1st or a 2nd and draft one of T Rich, Doug Martin or Lamar Miller, and none are likely to be available at their respective rounds.

T Rich, Lamar Miller, Doug Martin, Chris Polk, and David Wilson will all likely be gone by our 3rd round pick, and outside of them, I dont see any RB’s that are likely to contribute in an impactful way (unless we strike gold in the later rounds...and we know our track record with trying to find a late round gem at the RB position).

I dont see any prospect that we could take making an impact that Stewart would make right away, and hoping for a late round gem is very hopeful.

Mike Tolbert just signed a 4 year deal with Carolina. Tanny should be making a call right about now to inquire about Jonathan Stewart.

Had to bring this thread back, didn't want to start a new one.

Did anyone else notice the move yesterday between Houston and the Eagles? a 4th for DeMeco Ryans LB/DE. What is going on with teams giving away players for what seems like nothing? The guy is a solid player. I am going to sound like a greedy New Yorker here but, why didn't the JETS approach this? lol.

dallas clark looked terrible without manning throwing to him and we dont have a manning type player on our books.

Yarp, which is why its been widely speculated wed have interest in him.

I think he will have significantly more upside in our 3-4 than he offered the Vikings

Eitherway hes a big mean mofo, and when he left the saints, saint fans were sad to see him go.

Plus it can save us from drafting dl this year
