it is also just possible that our alleged gm , the contracts guru, completed agreement on a trade WITHOUT even reading the actual contract? this is the same guy who had hunter at right tackle last year while sitting on $11 million in salary cap space, while teams like the ravens, chiefs , and chargers brought in capable vets to give themselves a shot at the playoffs.
If Tanny worked for an owner who knew what he was doing, he would have been fired before now. The problem is quite simply Woody.
It's okay to agree to the terms of the trade in principal, but don't announce the damn deal until you read the freaking contract. WTF Jets??
Who says we aren't? We already signed Landry and OJ is scheduled to meet with the team. Its March not August. You're a joke.
The way I see it is that the Broncos gave him a salary advance last season bc he was playing well. Thats the money they owe him for taking the Broncos to the playoffs... As Manish said Why would the Jets pay $5.1M to the Broncos for a player that will be used as a No. 2/3 QB, H-back/Wildcat threat? Im guessing it such a big deal bc the extra $5.1M would go against our salary cap, but spread out btw 3 years its not bad, only an exta $1.3M a year.
If he really didn't read the contract before agreeing to the trade I will be pissed. If he is really that dumb I am going to flip out.
quick! fire tanny, offer polihan the gm job. our alleged gm never even read the contract before trading the picks.
I saw two tweets. One saying Jets didn't recognize language in contract saying they need to pick up the 5 million another saying the Jets didn't read the contract. Which is it? Either way Tanny is coming out of this looking bad. Let him write contracts/manage the cap, let someone else make football decisions
Really, this doesn't matter. It will get done or they will have him for the next three years. They would have to GIVE a team Tebow and a third round pick (maybe a second) to have somebody give them 5 million bucks.
Per Manish: RT @JeffDarlington Several other teams -- including Jags -- recognized language required nearly $5M payment, source said. Jets didn’t. Once again, this organization is a joke.
People are blinded by the fact that Tim Tebow sucks as a QB and as soon as the NFL has enough film on him he's going to go from leading his team to subpar offensive results to leading his team to terrible offensive results. The guy is not an NFL QB. He doesn't have the mechanics down and in two seasons with the Broncos and with the freaking tutelage of John Elway, who was a similar type of player although a hundred times better, he wasn't willing to fix that and make himself into a possible NFL QB. Why do you think John Elway wants to get rid of him after he lead the broncos to the playoffs for the first time in a long time last season? Just answer that one question and you'll understand why the Jets should be running screaming into the parking lot right now and thanking their lucky stars that they didn't read the contract before they made this move.
I see you forgot to mention the shellacking the pats put on him the following week after he beat the Steelers. The steelers defense was arrogant in that game and played undisciplined that's why they were beat. The pats stayed disciplined the following week and Tebow did nothing. MS is a better player than Tebow.
Schefter said they read the contract. Agreed to the trade in principle and then got the contract to read from the way that I read it.
