Brad Smith and Tebow aren't comparable in terms of locker room strife slash fans calling for him to takeover the QB job... No one ever believed Smith could be a full-time QB; at least Tebow has some support on that front.
This would be a great move..he makes 1 mil, 1 mil, 870k for the next 3 years and then it goes way up but only if he plays 40% of the downs.
In my opinion this might be either very good or very bad... Very good because it might light some fire under Sanchez's ass and make him show his true talent. Very bad because we'll have a locker-room divided between Sanchez and Tebow and our eam will collapse. Personally, I wouldn't want to take the risk... nothing against Tebow as a guy but there's just no room for him on this team. PS Plus imagine the NY media... things would go crazy!
Manish Mehta @TheJetsStream Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Don't discount Tebow's character as a factor in Jets' interest. Source tells me: "He would be an answer to (our) locker room problems" #nfl haha...here we go again....
Good - so that means the Jets can actually take some shots throwing the ball out of the Wildcat - something that happened less than five times with Schottenheimer coaching it. Seriously, some may think there's a "chance" and some "potential" for Tebow to eventually evolve into a real Quarterback... unfortunately the NFL is a win now business so in order for players to remain relevant, they need to provide value in the form of production... something they're good at. Tebow would be good in a system just like what Denver ran... one that allows the QB to run with very occasional throwing (in order to maintain balance). That fits Tebow's strength - and it just so happens its also a strength of our new offensive coordinator to coach. Does anyone really believe McKnight or Kerley would be more effective than Tebow at doing this?
I don't think there is any chance he is listed as anything other than the emergency QB if he comes here. (if they even have one of those anymore)
I get people don't like Tebow or thinks he sucks but lets deal in reality and not wrong perception, the only reaosn he will be traded is because of Manning . Tebow changed the culture of the locker room for the Broncos. (Von Miller, Dawkins, Bailey, Mgahee, and Thomas all publicly said he did so argue with his team mates about that culture change not me) Here you go 7-24 WORST TEAM IN THE NFL IN 31 GAMES BEFORE TEBOW (DENVER BRONCOS ) 2-8 2009 (last 10 games of season) 4-12 2010 1-4 2011 (first 5 games of season ) 7-4<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Tebow in as QB 2011 NO OTHER PLAYER CHANGE Playoff win +1 also here is his production for his 16 starts (and he played in 7 other games for a few plays) (includes 2 post season starts) Total Yards: 3835 Passing : 2885 Rushing: 950 Total TDs : 32 Interceptions: 9 Fumbles lost: 7 Completion percentage: 47.3% QB rating: 78.1 (includes post season) say he sucks all he wants but 3835 yards and 32 TDs is worth a 6th round pick even if it is to change him to running back.
Jenny Vrentas @JennyVrentas Two factors mentioned: Tebow would be a good locker-room presence. And Sparano loves the Wildcat. Interest described as "real." #nyj Let's take Sparano's advice. He knows how to build a winning team around a QB. But wait... Ohhh yeahhh, he used to be the Dolphins coach...
Praying that Tebow signs somewhere else soon.. Don't want another media shitstorm like there was with Manning..
I dont care how much value he brings for wildcat or to the locker room, the amount of media attention this team would get would far outweigh all of it. Imagine if the Jets lose 2 in a row and Sanchez plays somewhat below average, and then the whole media jumps on the Tebow bandwagon and causes a shit ton of problems... This would be a terrible move IMO. The only way this move makes sense is if the FO comes out and addresses the media saying that Sanchez is the starting QB and that Tebow is strictly here for wildcat purposes.
Oh please... wherever he is going, he's going as a QB. Everyone from players to media to fans will consider him a QB even if he's just a system QB.
What do you mean there is no price? If the Pats offer a 6th and no one else offers anything, they would probably get him for that offer. If they offer a 6th and we offer a 5th, they may have to offer a 5th and a 7th or something instead.
