YOU ARE SOO SMART!!! If Rex doesnt trust rookie RBs then explain why he let one carry the load for the second half of the season and throughout our whole playoff run in 09? If that was the case he could of easily let Thomas Jones get all the carries and let Greene ride the pine all season long. Just admit your wrong and move on. Just because Powell didnt get any playing time last season doesnt mean that Rex doesnt trust rookie RBs. You're saying if we draft T. Or you could just admit you forgot the Leon Washington was hurt which therefore pushed Shonn Greene up the depth chart solely because of need. Greene had 7 carries entering week 7 (where Leon got injured), so up until that point, I would consider Rex’s trust or reliance on Shonn Greene minimal. And here’s the carries for the RB’s for the 2nd half of the season- Greene- 74 Jones- 182 So yeah. He didnt “carry the load”, he helped out. He did contribute more in the playoffs, but that was because TJ was wearing down due to age, injuries and 300+ carries during the regular season.
fix the offensive line in general and right tackle in particular BEFORE signing any more running backs. you could have matt forte back there and he would go nowhere behind last year's line.
I don't see the fascination with this guy. Solid, yet unspectacular, considering he's a guy that never faces a stacked box with Brady at QB. The only real appeal is ability to hold onto the ball (his non-fumble # is impressive ). Not sure how this really improves the JETS unless they think Powell really sucks.
i'll pass on this guy...he's isn't that good...if we are going after FA, might as well be Bush...Greene/Bush would be great bruisers to wear down the defense

The idea that Greene can't stay healthy, and that's why BJGE is a better back is laughable. Green-Ellis has never carried the load. We're talking about a back with 510 carries over a 4 year career. That's like a season and a half for Curtis Martin. It's pretty simple. On an equivalent or worse line, over a shorter period of time, Shonn Greene has more carries at a higher clip. For all his "not staying healthy," he's missed three regular season games. Look, if you're going to argue this, please use objective facts, and actually look at Green-Ellis numbers, rather than looking at the jersey he wears. -X-
BJGE is a decent platoon back to keep he and Greene fresh, but I'm not a huge fan. I like that he doesn't fumble, and if the Patriots trusted him, that's a good sign, but at the same time, he's a mediocre runningback.
The guy's story speaks for itself. In college this guy was a work horse on two different teams. Sure they weren't great teams but he did really well in both places. He was a UDFA who worked his way to where he is. He's usually healthy, His YPC is very good. He's agressive. Best used inside, cannot really run the sweep. He can catch the ball out of the back field though not primarily used that way. Good blocker in protection. Ummm what else would you like a running back to do? The JETS should make him an offer.
How does he get more carries with Greene and McKnight there already? Besides, his sole purpose for exploring FA is to make some money.
Greene simply because of lack of durability, McKnight because he has been tried out at a number of positions other than runningback, which tells me something about what they think of his fit at his drafted position, which likely means a less than high number of carries at runningback. Powell is the wildcard. But if Powell shows no more than he has, it's really not out of the question that BJGE sees an elevated number of carries, which is the ultimate goal in an incentive-laden runningback contract.
