can we cool it with the love affair for tim tebow when we got a real franchise qb here in mark sanchez?
If the draft pick we trade is low, I have no problem with it. If he helps us win even one game, its worth the roster spot. I could care less about the whole traveling sideshow revival meeting BS.
only way this happens if we do wildcat o which I see happening with Sparano, I am worried what we would have to give up for him and also What the cap number will be since he was a 1st round pick
What a nightmare having Tebow would be. We would go from having the 2nd worst and 2nd most over-rhyped QB in football to having the 1st and 2nd worst. Not a very appetizing prospect. Sanchez may be a weak, stupid, arrogant, pampered pretty boy but he is not near as irritating to listen to as the self righteous Tebow. While Tebow amazingly is a worse pocket passer than Sanchez he does offer two positives in that he can run the ball and he is not near as overpaid as Sanchez's 11.25 million. Instead of playing 10 on 11 like we do now with Sanchez Tebow would allow us to play 10.5 vs. 11. Extending Sanchez and considering Tebow makes one wonder when we will start looking at Jeff George, Akili Smith and Ryan Leaf. As those 3 are no worse than Tebow or Sanchez.
I would love Tebow as our back up QB, he's an improvement over Stanton no? and if it's for a late round pick it even makes more sense.
Wildcat QB and as a short yardage runner? Yes. QB controversy every time Mark makes a mistake? Yes. I pass
I like The Jets Stream Source tells me it's "not likely" that Tim Tebow's next destination will be the Jets. Story: http://nydn.us/GDV7Ex #nfl about 20 mins ago
I like the idea. Sure the fans would act like morons all the time and sure the media would act like morons all the time, but neither of them are in my living room, so provided we're winning, I love it. Of course within 5 minutes Cimini would have written an article about "Down 4 with two minutes to go, who leads the Jets on their final drive?" and Manish would have some anonymous Jets saying "Peyton Manning is one thing, but this guy? It's like trading a turd for a smellier turd".
Not sure if it was mentioned before, and I'm too lazy to read that far back, but as of 2 minutes ago, SportsNation on ESPN said Schefter reported the Jags, Packers, Dolphins and JETS have discussed trading for Tebow. I'm nauseous if that's true.
Expansion of Kaiser's post: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/20/jets-consider-trading-for-tim-tebow/related/ Jets consider trading for Tim Tebow Posted by Michael David Smith on March 20, 2012, 3:00 PM EDT New York Jets v Denver Broncos Getty Images One of Tim Tebow’s most impressive comebacks last season came against the Jets, when he ran for a 20-yard touchdown in the final minute of a 17-13 Broncos victory. Now the Jets are considering the idea that if they can’t beat Tebow, he should join them. The Jets have discussed trading for Tebow, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Schefter refers to the Jets acquiring Tebow as a long shot, but it’s at least a possibility. Tebow in a Jets uniform would put a different kind of heat on starter Mark Sanchez, whose new contract extension shortly after the Jets exited the Peyton Manning sweepstakes appeared to give him a firm grip on the starting job. As it turned out, the Broncos winning the Manning sweepstakes could be the first step toward Sanchez having to hold off Tebowmania in order to remain the Jets’ starter. Tebow in a Jets uniform would also be fun to see because when Tebow and Antonio Cromartie are on opposite sides of the ball in practice, it would be the first instance in NFL history of the defensive player being the one who needs to wear the red jersey.
