Strickland used to be #27 but switched to #30 after we traded Lowery I think? Looks like he will be switching back lol
Good move. A bit injury prone, but could be a steal if he stays healthy. And he is also clearly better than Pool and Smith.
I'm happy with this, Landry was on player on the free agent list I wanted and felt was a realistic signing. Won't get any of the guards I wanted, but such is life. I'd be ecstatic though if we signed OJ as well, injury risks granted. But best in the market and let's be realistic here, you have to work with what's available in the market. It was unrealistic of me to hope for Nicks at guard though, with our cap situation that wasn't gonna happen.
But no one on our defense put fear in WR’s or TE’s that came across the middle. Landry will do that and then some.
Landry was phenomenal in 2010 before he got hurt. I have no idea what to make of his injury though. A torn achillies is the absolute worst injury a football player can have short of paralysis.
The beast compilation. Check out that hit on Plaxico! I like it, I just hope it doesn't mean cornball refs throwing flags. Eric Smith and Landry will make a nice tag team.
yea the injury sounds very mysterious to me right now but you have assume that the FO knows what they are doing. I read that he had some type of protein injected into his heel or something but no word on if it actually worked
Like I said earlier I like the Landry. However say the Jets upgrade at the other Safety spot as well and Leonard is sent packing, who makes the calls in the secondary and puts people where they need to be? I would think those calls have to come from one of the safety spots and there is a strong chance that we will have 2 new free safeties on opening day. Is it realistic for one or both of them to learn the system well enough by then to be able to make calls? I only ask because I remember Rhodes had difficulty learning the system as well.
Landry really is a monster around the line of scrimmage. People who liked what James Ihedigbo did in Ryan's defense are going to love Landry. That said, he can't cover for shit, and you can't really count on him to stay healthy all year. So our work at safety is far from done.
You maybe right..if so i am shocked 1 year for 4 mill is the best he could get. I realize he's a high risk with his injury history but with how dry the safety market is, and his level of play when healthy, surprised didn't throw 6.5 mill or so at him. Hell look how much Reggie Nelson made.
Hmm other good thing about this, if we lock him up, its definitely a possibility that Dawan Landry could get cut after this season, his salary jumps up quite a bit after this year, and he doesnt have alot of guaranteed money. Be interesting as fuck to have the two of them in the same secondary with Revis/Cro in their primes + wilson
It wasn't a torn achilles. Apparently he's got some bone spurs in his foot that rub against his achilles and cause it to inflame. The Redskins doctors wanted him to go under the knife to remove the bone spurs. He opted for some new age medicine which uses stem cells. We'll see what happens.
