We need a DOMINANT safety and that means we'd have to find him in the draft or via trade because the FA pool is dried up.
The way Rex playes D the safeties and Corners need to be spectacular.

If you gave me a choice i'd take Lowery before I take Landry.
At least Lowery is always around the ball.

If we could find a great cover safety, than adding Landry would be fantastic. He's a pain inflictor. But, we don't have a cover safety.

Unfortunately for him, that attribute is becoming increasingly less valuable in today's NFL.

DBs notorious for inflicting pain are now a liability, as they'll tend to draw more Personal Foul penalties. The adjustment, for them, will require less focus on physicality and contact, which consequently, will devalue them if that's their strong quality.

The problem with Lowery is that he's under-talented. We have plenty of JAG types. Alexander at safety is a prime example.

Landry is much better in coverage than he is getting credit for. Who the hell said he was slow? That's a joke right? Mid 4.3s is slow? Landry would be an extreme step up at safety from where we are. He is also Rex's kind of guy. If he comes cheap, it's a no-brainer, just like Braylon.

It would be a Bob Sanders type deal I think, in saying that Landry is just the type of saftey this team needs. Add him and Lowry, resign Poole and possibley draft a safety this year.

If our pass rush wasn't so bad we wouldn't need studs at every position in the secondary. GET A PASS RUSHER.

It's pretty awesome to have both. (See Ravens and Steelers)

Those teams have studs at safety. Who do they have at corner?

    LTJF,

this is an easy answer, they dont have a glaring need for top of the line corners. They have stud safetys and pass rushers that compinsate for the lack of corners...its impossible to have studs at every postion these days.

Our team needs a cover safety and someone that can play the run due to the fact we play the Pats twice a year and that the Phins are going to be a different type of O with Bush, Marshall and Qb(???) and probably adopt some type of Packers style O.

Unless you are planning to move him to LB I don't see any reason to get him. He is as roided up as anyone I have seen since David Boston. Big chunk of glass now.

He's visiting the Jets today. Hopefully we'll have at least one safety signed before tomorrow.

He ran a 4.3 for you recently, great!

Imagine what he'd run if he didn't have bone spur and achilles issues (that need an operation that he keeps putting off).

Hopefully Landry comes to our facility tomorrow and doesnt leave without signing a contract. You better pull this off Tanny and save face.

That would be a nice start. Then who the fuck are we going to find to be a TE containing natural FS? Stupid salary cap.

I still don't want Landry, he does not live up to the hype. Just because they lost out on Nelson doesn't mean they should panic and sign a loser at the other safety position.

Jets would like to sign LaRon Landry and are working on it, as @RichCimini noted. Landry is currently talking to 3 teams, per source. #nyj

For what it's worth, Landry had an overnight visit with the #Jets. Toured team facility this morning.

So he stayed overnight too. If he leaves without signing it will make us look really helpless.
