    Per Manish:

    Jets have expressed interested in free agent safety O.J. Atogwe. Story here;

Not sure how I feel about this. Not a huge fan of him but I guess he’s all thats left :(

    FUCK YEAH

Atogwe is a stud, if healthy

    And a ballhawk turnover machine

    This move has tremendous upside.

Especially since who did Atogwe play with ? Oh yeah that guy Landry...

Do you have a better plan? Reggie Smith would come cheap and is worth a flier. Landry’s medical history scares the shit out of me but it seems like we are seriously interested and he is one of the only few options left out there.

I mean, we could just have Eric Smith start again this year and let Tracy Wilson have a go at it...

Nice I'm hoping he's the guy we would hope he would be last year when we wanted him.

I wanted Atogwe over Nelson anyway!

    I kinda want Atogwe-Leonhard over Atogwe-Landry.

Yes, MrElectric, I think that Atogwe is a far better choice, actually, injuries and all.

He would be an okay stop gap player... He’s past his prime, and we’ve all seen what happens when we sign players past their prime. And also, im pretty sure the Redskins were worse than us covering TE’s so im not sure why theres a ton of excitement there.

    Per Manish again:

I've been told safety O.J. Atogwe has received interest from half dozen tms. No visit scheduled w/Jets yet, but they're interested.

He wasnt healthy last year, and didnt play the second half of the season

(not to mention their whole defense is crap)

Plus were gonna sign him to a 1 year cheap contract.

If it pans out we work on an extension, if it doesnt, well then were going into a draft with a much better safety class, and a free agency period with a ton more money available to us.

Seems like a win win to me

Reggie Smith is going to be a solid player and we should be all over him.

    Mr E?... Hmmm

Well Atogwe is a decent option, but nothing more than a stop gap.

Love his game, but he's not athletic enough to play FS. If we can find a viable FS before the draft, I would be really excited if we drafted Harrison and put Smith back at the #3 safety where he belongs.

The only one that jacks off to his own posts more is MrE junior, aka NMdick. Neither would surprise me.

We were not going to find anything more in FA at safety this season than a stopgap, the pool was shallow.

Edit: lol I guess I could totally have confused cub reporter TJ Mims for those other two, he knows half as much but tries twice as hard.

so why then would the niners give him to the jets for a second round pic? fantasy draft is just that, a fantasy. wake up to the real world because the niners aren't giving away a free safety just because some jets fans live in la la land.

Give, Terrance Newman a shot at saftey. Newman is a tough, competitive player with good instincts, especially in the passing game. Newman is a fluid athlete with great hips to turn and run effectively in press man schemes. He's physical enough to reroute his opponent off the line of scrimmage. He reads route progressions well and is an excellent reactor to both run and pass. Newman is an excellent playmaker and often times draws the assignment of covering the opponent's best receiver. He has good size with excellent athleticism and deceptive strength.

also, sign Reggie Smith who is a comer and is only 25 years old and then add Atogwe and we will be able to do all that and save enough money to sign Hawthorne.

Then trade Scott and $3MM to the Colts or Ravens since Pagano is looking for ex-Ravens. If we can save $2MM on Scott instead of releasing him then that money can go towards Anthony Collins.
