What are our remaining options at Free Safety? Landry and Mark Barron are SS, more in the box tacklers than your play the ball/play the TE FS. All I've heard it Reggie Smith of the Niners, but he's a reach, never been a regular starter in the league.
At this point Id think about trying to trade our 2nd rounder and seeing if we can get Dashon Goldson from the niners I wanted him last year and he had a beast of a season this year.
Why would they want to trade any of their defensive players, they have the best defense in the league?
Because they low balled him and Rosenhaus is still trying to work out deals. I read a more recent story then this one saying this but this is only one I could find. http://blogs.sacbee.com/49ers/archives/2012/03/source-goldson-to-receive-franchise-tag-today.html Edit nm I see that was about last year I must have misread it. According to this he's happy. http://www.mercurynews.com/business/ci_20088279
Reports Jarrett Bush from GB is trying out for us... plus Cromartie just tweeted asking himself wether he should move to FS (god no). I wonder if there's someone we can work out a trade for... also I still wouldn't mind either Wilson moving to FS of drafting Kirkatrick and playing him there.
Atogwe was signed to a 5 yr $26M deal a year ago and then cut after one season with Washington. Was his release performance or salary cap related?
He was banged up injury wise Which means we could get him presumably for 1 year 3 million give or take a little
any of you guys have info on Jerrett Bush ( gbay ) ? I know zilch about this guy---and he supposedly is trying out for us
I read that Reggie Smith was in line for the starting job but got hurt in the preseason and was never able to work his way back into the starting lineup. He played CB and FS in college so he has some cover skills and good size and instincts. At this point, him and Landry would be our best hope I think.
Reggie Nelson from Cincy. I want him badly. I remember first game of the season, Smith blew coverage against Witten and Leonhard luckily saved Smith's job at the 1.
Sweet, a guy that has barely played safety and a guy that won't be playing much longer. Master plan right there.
