Upsetting as this is, the Bengals had a lot more cap room and considering the length of the negotiations they more than likely way overpaid.

If that's the case then I am glad the FO is no longer making Bart Scott type inadvisable contracts and is thinking about the future.

Then again we are in deep trouble at safety now, Landry might eventually blossom (he's still relatively young, maybe he can learn to cover) but as of the moment he wouldn't be much of an upgrade in pass coverage department.

As for the draft, seems like a good chunk of the Draft forum guys aren't all the high on Barron, sounds more like a hard hitting SS to me and DEFINITELY not good value at #16. Fingers crossed that the FO has good backup plans.

Fuck. Not happy that we couldn't get this done. Jets have been embarassingly thin at safety for way too long now.

realistically well probably sign one slightly above average safety and draft one in the first or second round. Not ideal but not the worst

Hope this doesn't mean we draft Mark Barron. Also next time someone thinks of incarcerated Bob as a source you can remember to add this one to the list of lies.

Mark Barron isn't a bad safety, but he's not what we are looking for.

If only Kerry Rhodes didn't become a whiny pansy

Before this all begins , let's not freak out people. There are still options out there and this shouldn't kill our offseason plans. It happens to teams all over the league.

Thanks for wasting the Jets time and using the Jets for leverage Reggie. I'd have more respect for him and his decision IF he told folks Cincy was the right team for him and signed early with them rather than drag all of this out.

Please don't sign Landry....take a safety in the draft. Resign Leonhard too, a guy who actually wants to be a Jet.

"So with Reggie Nelson headed back to Cincy, #Jets under pressure to get something done with Landry. Or else ... draft Alex Barron?"

    The great Rich Cimini

You're forgetting about the Bills, who have been improving (at least on paper) while the Jets just keep getting worse.

And I wasn't talking about winning the division, just making the playoffs. The Bengals went there last season with a rookie QB, the Jets on the other hand went from 2 AFC Championship Games to.....

Draft Barron and sign Landry. Trading down has now become a must unless, of course, Ingram,Floyd, or Richardson are still around (which they won't be). We need more picks because we need to fill more needs. We are doing nothing this offseason.

I like how the ever-so-knowledgeable Rich Cimini confuses the Alabama S MARK Barron with FA OL ALEX Barron.

As usual all Cimini's got are useless remarks, no mention of the Bengals piles of unused cap room (a quick perusal of their forums reveals hordes of fans pissed off over how the Bengals have loads in the cap and aren't spending!)

Can't trade down too far because the Pats have Barron on their mind too.

I see a trade coming soon. The Jets may get desperate for a cover safety and offer up a pick for one. Not sure who though.

Landry will be getting a bigger offer from us, they won't want to lose out on him.

Barron and Landry cannot cover , theyre essentially the same type of player, except Landry is more physical. We wouldn't do that.
