I really hope we get Ingram. This kid is gonna be special and I could see the Jets scooping him up @ 16. I think he has the most potential of all the pass rushers in the draft. Another guy to look at is Quinton Coples from UNC.

If this is out there then look for the Jets to add a WR or OL, smoke screen.....

I really hope so. If this is actual truth than fuck Cimini and whoever leaked this info. Boom goes the leverage.

I love Coples, too. But there's no way we get him unless we trade up. Branch is seeming more and more like the guy. Ingram will be gone at 16 and Upshaw could be as well.

Somebody stated publicly what the whole world knows should be on Rex Ryan's mind first and foremost?

Not exactly Boom goes the DYNOMITE.

    passes it to the man...

no but seriously leaking the 3 names that they supposedly covet at this point can't accomplish anything positive. Yeah we all know we need an OLB but Rex and his friends don't need to run their mouths about it so other GMs can sandbag us in the draft

There isn't really any reason to believe that those are his top 3 guys or that he wouldn't be equally as happy with someone else. Or how he compares those guys to other potential players that are falling or could be considered to take after trading back.

In other words, it isn't information that is exploitable in any real quantifiable sense.

However, there is one major positive impact you're ignoring. It lets all of the level-headed Jets fans know that the front office doesn't have their heads up their asses and they're going after the things that need going after. I don't know about you but that makes me feel a little more comfortable knowing he's looking at the same type of guys as me with the 1st round pick.

Yes, the Jets must use their first round pick for pass rush please god please... unless if Blackmon is still available but the chances of that are slim to none.

The one thing I've noticed about Ingram having seen him play from time to time, is that he's a special teams beast. He blocked 3 kicks at South Carolina, plus ran back kickoffs and punts early in his career.

That in itself is rare, to find someone with that innate ability to excel in kick blocking, with natural athleticism and good timing. To me, it just adds to the list of positives when drafting in the 1st round.

Don't get me wrong, I saw Upshaw play in person dozens of times and would love to see the Jets draft him, but I wouldn't be disappointed if Ingram fell to us, either.

that's a good point. rex and the FO really need to do everything in their power to keep the fans happy this offseason. especially after missing out on nelson, resigning hunter, etc

The last time I checked the franchises make their billions off of their many fans who pay them thousands of dollars a year to support the team and go to the games.

Losing the support of a player like Santonio for a few weeks you can handle. Losing the support of the fan base can cost you for 10 years down the line. It's not likely that something of this magnitude, if true, would've been leaked without discussion and consideration from Tanny/Rex/etc. I'm sure they liked the way it would play in the press so they allowed it to happen if so. Not that amazing they'd admit to the obvious under such circumstances.

Rex said it. Who could possibly say if it's the truth or just the thing next in line to come out of his mouth?

One of the few benefits of having the kind of talkative (being generous here) personality that Rex has is that he's probably said everything possible at one time or another. Nobody can read his intentions based on what he says.

The Jets should worry about drafting the best player available in the first round. They have far too many needs not to. Pass rusher is great, but any linebacker who is more athletic and versatile than the ones we have would fix a lot of our problems too, as would an offensive tackle or wide receiver.

I'm usually a BPA guy but the Jets have to get a player who improves the rest of the team on whatever side of the ball he's on...starting G/T on offense or a pass rushing monster on D. Anything other than that, regardless of BPA, is sub optimal.

I'm not sure that any OT or WR available at 16 would be better than Ingram or Upshaw. Rieff is going to be a bust IMO and Jonathan Martin isn't a good RT option- his biggest weakness is speed. Floyd isn't a better player than any OLB we look at. Wright isn't even an option.

I'm pretty sure I agree with this overall. I don't want to comment on Reiff's chances at busting or Martin's chances at exceeding an average NFL tackle, but I agree with the overall sentiment.

None of these guys are so good or so much better than their peers in the draft class that they make you say to yourself "I've got to have them on my team." Sure they might do a great job for someone else a few picks later, but I just don't see it at 16. Reiff shouldn't be there anyway if nothing is wrong so discussion on him is kind of moot anyway.

Someone better is going to fall to us. Our best available OLB will be able to contribute more for us. We would need someone to MAKE us pick away from our area of biggest need especially in a deep class (OLB). Trent Richardson might make you want to do that. I just don't see it with these other guys.
