If they get him, they might release Scott now.

Scott's contract is guaranteed...more of the bullshit Tannenbaum debacle from last year's run at alphabet soup.

Scott's gone whether they sign McClain or not. It's not a matter of if it's a matter of when.

Why would a guy with a guaranteed contract be gone no matter what?

Im not too familiar with him. but from what i read hes a decent run stuffer, and can get to the QB. Not sure how he is in pass coverage. He could really help at depth for our lbs. could be a great move if we get him for the right price. But like i said im not to familiar with the guy but anything helps.

IMO, he’s a better, younger version of Bart Scott. Problem is, Scott’s contract is guaranteed so unless we trade him, I dont know how this will work...

Well why would they have signed BT then? No one on the market wouldve wanted him. So we sign a guy thats not going to be signed by another team just to cut him? Im going to go with a solid No.

    Jets "liking" McClain.

Landry and Nelson both visiting over the weekend.

This has the potential to be a great weekend for Jet fans. If we get a younger MLB, and 2 new safeties, plus get rid of Scott and Eric Smith all in one weekend. wow

    Cant Wait !

Sign Nelson & possibly McClain, keep Scott and Smith.. thats what we need to do. Scott was awesome in 2010 but sucked last season. I dont think his career is over yet and I think we hold onto him for at least 1 more season

We're better off brining in a rookie and starting him next year after Scott can be released free of charge.
No need to spend money or cut Scott and lose money.

If Scotts sitting on the bench pouting about his playing time, that's gonna hurt the locker room. Hopefully the lack of interest in trade partners for him either leads to him willing to restructure his contract to facilitate a trade, or some scenario where he resturctures so that we can cut him while having less of a loss (ie he agrees to an offset provision) so he can get cut and sign anywhere he wants and be a legit starter.

Neither sounds likely, but we gotta hope

    .

    This right here.

Mcclain fits the system well and would be one less position to adress in the draft. Picking mcclain up, drafting burfict in the mid to late rounds and cutting scott next yr would be a good scenario for ilb depth.

    least imo
