I thought Sanchez proved himself when he almost completed the biggest playoff comeback of all time?

Missing the playoffs is part of the process, Peyton missed the playoffs after going 13-3. Brady missed the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl. Ben missed the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl. Eli missed it back to back years. Brees went 8-8 in 08 and then turned around and won the Super Bowl the next year.

You people are whiners, say what you want but Sanchez was the reason for the success the first 2 years. And most importantly he did enough to play in the Super Bowl both years, to bad the defense didnt.

When a play goes bad, they all "share" the blame, of course, but it sounds to me that you trying to absolve Sanchez of blame....and believe me that's not the case.

I've said many time before. Sanchez is never going to "carry" at team with his passing. Put him on a team with a great defense, a good offensive line to protect him, an elite running game, and he is probably good enough to take the Jets deep into the playoffs.

The problem Jake is that the Jets no longer have a great defense. they no longer have one of the better OL's in the league. They don't have a good running game.

What's happening is that the elements that allowed Sanchez to QB the Jets to 2 AFCCG's aren't there any more, so he his game looks worse. Sanchez isn't good enough to make average players better. He needs to be surrounded by talent. He is NOT the straw that stirs the drink.

If you are a Sanchez fan, and Jake I think you are, his problem is that over the next 2 season, the rest of the division is more likely to improve at a greater rate than the Jets, given the current resources each team has.

So unless Tanny hits a grand slam home run in the next 2 drafts, and everyone else in the division swings and misses, Sanchez might not have a chance to get the players around him that he needs to succeed and compete with the rest of the division.

The harsh fact is that the gap between winning and losing in the NFL is RAZOR thin. You either get better or get left behind. I know its a long way until September, but Jake, are the Jets a better team now than they were when they collapsed at the end of the season? Everyone else in the division seems to be.

You've been proven wrong on this board a number of times. Once you are, you disappear for a couple of days then come back and post more garbage.

Prove me wrong. What have I said that isn't true or accurate. Is Sanchez an accurate passer, relative to the rest of the league? Does he take care of the ball well? Are the Jets not hamstrung to a degree by several big contracts? etc, etc.

What have I said that "wrong".

BTW- I'm don't post here every day, because I'm a Pats fan. Duh.

Way to go Mark! Could this be the beginning of him becoming the true leader of this football team? I sure hope so.

Free agency hasn't even finished yet, the draft hasn't even started. I could easily make the case that the dolphins are worse than they were at seasons end, and technically so are the pats. Only team that's really improved are the bills. You're grasping at straws that aren't there with that last paragraph.

I don't think Jets West is the same in this situation. I think in a situation like this - he needs to push back, not try to make friends with everyones. I think if he can tell someone up, he'll be one step closer to becoming a better leader -- obviously on the field performance is a significant aspect, but if he keeps up this type of mind set, it's for the better.

I'm not "grasping at straws. It is what it is. I know its very early. In case you missed it
Like I said, I know there is a long way to go and many roster moves will be dissected and projections made, and none of it will mean anything until you see the product actually performing on the field.

    Good night

I don't think any sane person could say he was gutless last season. If he was gutless he would have stayed down after the 40th time he got hit buried in the dirt less than 3 seconds after the snap.

I have to "COSIGN" this statement also....!

I don't give 2 shizznits about Mark expressing his "displeasure" over critiques issued by nameless/faceless "others" regarding his 2011 perf. Get over it! Move on, get strong, prove 'em wrong thru action.
What patfanken has stated here is totally correct & to singularly lay the majority of the blame on Mark for the team's abject FAILURE is absolutely WRONG!
All must rightfully share equal responsibility for their "contributions" to the collapse of 2011. From Rex's inadequate def'nsiv game-planning; Sch#ttinHeimer's "R U Smarter than a 5th Grader(Nope)", highly offensive (to the sense of smell) play calling; (Not so) Special teams play (wtf was wrong w. U Cromartie?); a non-existant pass-rush led by a Buff Bill LB reject (now listed as a Jet Def End) who ONLY weighs 228 lbs; an off. line "anchored"
by Wayne "The Doorman" Hunter" which allowed Mark to be the most sacked qb in the league; safeties Brodney P & Eric Smith who couldn't even cover my dead grandmother......(I gotta stop now 'cause I'm startin' to get pissed off!)
The point is that success &/or failure is the end product of the total effort (or lack thereof) put forth by the entire TEAM & not by any 1 individual. I know because I participated in both youth & adult amateur/semi-pro sports programs.
    Leave Mark alone!

When we start seeing Bradford having horrific games this year, then we will truly know where the offensive woes originated.

I expect Sanchez to be better this year, but he has to be smart and learn to quit telegraphing passes.

You have said the Jets would have no cap space this year because they messed up their cap space. They currently have 12 million remaining. Even after Sanchez restructured you said the Jets would only have 2-4 million left if you give 5 to rookies. They have 7 million left if you set aside 5 to the rookies. You said Santonio was a locker room cancer in Pittsburgh multiple times, something that is false. The reason he got traded was because of his and Big Ben's off the field incidents, not being a cancer in the lockerroom. There is a difference between off the field/on the field and they do not go hand in hand.

Those are just some of the things.

I love these comments by Sanchez. He doesn't care anymore, and is calling out whoever said it. It is true, it is a gutless thing to do and I love the they werent strong enough to put their name on it line.

I like how people (including opposing fans) put more stock into anonymous sources that have been proved wrong by coaches, players, analysts instead of words coming directly out of players mouths. You have to take each with a grain of salt because as fans we are never going to know 100% percent what goes on behind closed doors.

It's much more than lip service. I think this is a big step forward in taking control and leadership of the locker room. This was Sanchez saying to the team (not the media or fans like you suggested) that the B.S. stops.

This also puts Mark out in front of the situation. Soon after the anonomous comments were made several teammates came out in Sanchez's defense. Now here was his chance to defend himself and I think he did a great job with it. The teammates that had already defended him will stand in line behind him. The teammates who were on the fence will now also rally behind him leaving the dissenters by themselves.

I told you the other day that Mark is a great leader but was too young to really grab leadership of the team. But now you will see that leadership come out. The contract and his comments yesterday - which were directed towards the locker room - are the first steps in the right direction.

I think that you can point to several games last season (@Denver, vs. New England, @Miami, especially @Baltimore,) where Sanchez straight up folded when things started going downhill.

He deserves credit for staying in after taking some big hits, but he also deserves criticism for letting those hits drastically alter the way he played.

It is what it is? Okay so how is it every team in the afce has gotten better since seasons end except the jets? Like I said, only the bills have and that's because they signed Mario Williams. The dolphins? They trade their best offensive weapon, yet they are better? Lol law firm and mark Anderson are not patriots as of right now, yet they are a better team since seasons end? Like I said, grasping at straws.
