Even more reason to bring in one of the classiest receivers we've had in a long time to mentor said draftee and kerley,.. and even holmes. Even big mouth A-holes would need to respect a veteran like JCo for as much as he's done for this team.
If Braylon gets signed to an incentive laden contract there is no way he is that great mentor for somebody like Floyd. He's in a cut-throat competition at that point to get paid. I think the Jets bring in Braylon as a cheap alternative if they don't get somebody like Floyd in the draft.
I don't get what all the hype about Cotchery is. We already have that player in Kerley. We need a WR who can spread the field. I'll pass
I hope Braylon has grown up a lot in one year. I still want the fire on the field, but he has to keep his attitude and decision making in check off the field. I have a drivers license so I can drive his Lamborghini whenever he wants to get hammered.
Chaz guy from OAK is coming to visit. Maybe as early as tonight. Who the fuck are we trying to get to be our #2 receiver?
meh. maybe. I think the collective obsession with veteran leadership that everyone suddenly has as a direct result of the Holmes meltdown is vastly overblown. I'll take a young deep threat in the 2nd or 3rd round over Cotchery ten times out of ten.
I still got love for Cotchery (hated seeing him leave last season), but while we are at it, we should take a look at Justin McCareins. [/McCareins sarcasm] Braylon for #2.
If we are going to really commit to the ground and pound then I think it might be the smart move to take a gamble with a guy at Wideout. It would be more important for the team to go big at OLB or Safety. If we want to go back to a more than 50% run offense then we need to make sure our Defense will getting stops. And we could always trade for a disgruntled receiver on a losing team mid season again, like the Braylon Edwards trade.
People, myself included, sometimes let nostalgia for players who've worn the Green and White cloud our judgement about how good they were and are. Cotchery was a solid receiver. He isn't a difference maker though; and if our offense is going to improve demonstrably, we need playmakers.
Cotchery's visiting the Chiefs during the beginning of this upcoming week. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...cotchery-to-visit-the-chiefs-early-next-week/
