So I'm officially one and done as a STH. I took a few minutes to draw up the numbers, and there is just no way you can come out ahead, so what's the point. I'm paying $105 per ticket in 316, high up, but I like the view. And there is just no way to even break even comprted to market value paying that ridiculous amount. Game by game, looking at what you would pay on stubhub; 2 preseasons (and unless you are forced to go because of your season tickets, face it, nobody would be going to these, but for all intents and purposes, lets say you would) My cost $420 Stubhub cost $40 for 2 seats to 2 games, probably downstairs too. So before the season kicks off, you have thrown $400 down the drain. Splendid. And in reality its $420 + parking/train + whatever food/drinks you eat at the game, or buy on your way there, because now that I am done, I'm not actually paying money to attend 3 quarters of supermarket shelf stockers play football. Week 1 - My cost $105x2 - 210 SH cost, approx $80x2 - 160 Patriots game - My cost $105x2 - 210 SH cost, about $105x2 - 210 Remaining regular season games - My cost $105x12 - 1260 SH cost - approx $60x12 - 720 Total cost for me as a STH - $2100 Total cost for me buying the same seats to all games via SH - $1130 When you have that type of savings, the Jets can have 2 home playoff games (which, lets be honest, what are the odds of that happening) and I can attend both via SH at prices considerably over STH face, and still come out way, way ahead for the season. And those numbers dont even take into account that as a non STH, I will NOT be attending worthless preseasons, if its Wednesday before a game, and its expected to pour all day, Sunday, I can choose not to buy tickets on SH, and watch the game from the comfort of my living room instead of paying $210 + parking + whatever else to be soaked all day at the stadium, or trying to sell my tickets for a 90% loss. Those numbers dont take into account that if a game toward the end of the season is completely meaningless, I can stay home and pay $0. And those numbers dont take into account that the 1 or 2 games a season that I might not be able to go to for circumstantial work/family reasons, I can simply not buy seats to instead of sell at a loss or eat. So in actuality, the money saved by not being a STH is probably 4 figures, or close to it.
Besides week 1 pricing you're pretty accurate with your pricing. Those would still go for face or over but that's only $25. For me my big issue is I've had my tickets for 21 years and even though they may not mean much for me emotionally they still do. However, I have seats that I hate and I won't renew unless I get an upgrade that I want. The Jets told me I'm giving them limited inventory to work with and well after 21 years I should pick what I want. If for some reason nothing happens I can always pick up season tickets in mid-August and avoid the preseason costs. I was already figuring if I avoid preseason tickets I'd save $190 per seat. I could probably attend 1 preseason game and get coaches club seats for that price instead. I am not into all that fancy shmancy crap but I wouldn't mind trying it out for a preseason game with the money I'm not eating on my own crappy tickets.
Yes upper deck resale value is very low we all know this!! People pay for lower level!! Worth the PSL
If someone like 316 actually " likes the view " of the game,,,why on earth should he or anyone else purchase a psl ? The guy is saying he can give up his season tickets and sit in pretty much the exact same location for half the money by purchasing tickets on the secondary market. ---sounds like a no brainer to me. I will never pay a PSL. I dont have anything against anyone who does, but for me, I'll pay for football tickets, but the day will never come when I pay for the right to buy football tickets. Secondly, I just dont like the idea of being stuck in something for a very long period of time, when I have absolutely no idea what my financial future will be. So to not know where I will be working, when, and for how much, but to know for a fact that I will be owing payments to the New York Jets, is probably not the best financial decision for me. But that doesnt mean it is or isnt for anyone else. I'm still in college so I have no idea what my income will look like in 5 years. Older guys that have developed a nice nest egg can lock themselves into payments for the next 5-10 years and not bat an eye. I cant. Plus, I dont mind the view from upstairs, as long as I am along the sideline. In fact, even though the Giants Stadium UD was 100 times better, I still prefer the UD sideline to the LLEZ, or Mezz B, which are some of the most atrocious seats in the league. So why would I lock myself into payments for the next half a decade when I could pay game by game at 1/3 of the price to a LL PSL seat. If I'm not surrendering a huge sum of money to the Jets to start with, then I dont care what resale is, I save more money by having it never leave my pocket.
I'll take a shot and guess that he means that there are 18 or more stadiums in the league that have PSL's attached to their seats. This trend will soon carry over to other sports as well. How did I do? ; )
Was looking on Jetsinsider.com. There's a few people on there that are either giving up part or all of their upper deck seats. Some are also looking for people to buy them for a season. I feel that better seats will open up if we hold our or maybe even better deals offered. Otherwise they will end up like the Yankees losing STHs by the boat load and the Jets have already lost plenty.
I'm gonna say he means 18k seats in the stadium. What that has to do with the price of tea in China I'm not sure

and as long as people continue to allow these scumbags to charge you a fee for the right to pay them money no matter how much they decide to charge you they will continue to do things like charge psls and whatever the next thing is that they can come up with to rob you of money. sadly there are not enough people who are smart enough to know they are being taken and or not enough of those that do care about it.... its almost as if they enjoy being screwed in the butt with a burlap condom.
Here is where the Jets truely BLEW IT! The corporate seats ALL should have been in the upper bowl,,,,you know the people that have seats between the 30's and all those luxery boxes all should have been built in the UPPER BOWL. Why u ask ? Because many of those people stay inside and DO NOT watch the game anyways,,,put those boxes WAYYYY up there and build em nice and big in the upper endzones ,,,you cannot see well from WAY UP THERE so they could have watched on their TV's as they do anyways while they eat their suishi----then these big luxery suites could have been built to give an overhang to the people below and they would be protected from the elements----and no one would see empty seats up there as there are now---and everyone would be happy-----------maybe I should have designed this place----just sayin :lol: Happy St Paddys Day all-----ps anyone spoken to the reps lately ?
I have had season tickets for 20+ years and currently have 4 in section 312...I am giving them up for the same reason...Paying $720 for 2 preseason game, having StubHub as an option to buy better seats at a decent price the week of the game, avoiding night games & bad weather and most of all, knowing the sack of sh!t Jet representatives were offering new season ticket holders the option not to buy preseason last year is an insult... The bottom line is, Jet tickets are not that difficult to get...F U Woody...
