ayfkm with this pens garbage. guess what: That's sick. Pens are class of the East, I don't care what the standings say. Also for Ottawa: http://espn.go.com/nhl/team/_/name/ott/ottawa-senators that's a mediocre team that's got the 6th worst defense in the league.
Well it can't be based on this season, since the Rangers are 5-0 against them. And it can't be based on past playoff success, because the Penguins' core has won a Cup while the Flyers core that got to the finals is gone. Maybe if Bryzgalov has actually turned a corner they become a legit threat, but not more than the Rangers or Penguins. Or even the Devils, imo.
That doesn't count. See earlier posts from jonnyd and Tommy. You can, and I quote, "throw the regular season out of the window". Otherwise, by that logic the Sens are a better side than the Rangers. (Not an argument I'm trying to make, regardless of what straw men others may have tried to create.) Doesn't matter. They're currently four points behind the feared Penguins, and regular season points accumulation over 60-odd games is the key determining factor. (See jonnyd.) But they're 2-1 against the Flyers. That's a legit determining factor (see, erm, you, earlier in this post). Confusing, innit? What are we taking as our determining factor of quality here? The two things you're all apparently convinced of is that a) the Senators are shit (apologies to TommyJ, who was slightly more gracious than that), and b) the Penguins are the best team in the division. Except absolutely nothing other than opinion appears to support that. So, see you in the postseason - I guess we'll find out the truth. For the record, I've already stated earlier in this thread that I don't think the Sens will get past the first regardless of who we play, largely because of the goaltending. Also for the record, I think Pittsburgh are going out in the first round as well and the final will be played between two of Boston, NYR and Philly.
I couldn't care less about the Senators, and I don't think Pittsburgh is far and away the class of the division. You said Philly (along with Boston) is the team to beat. What are you basing that opinion on?
Johnny, youre continuing to drag me into your arguments even after Ive bowed out to let you kinda disappear out of the limelight a bit? Simply moving to Canada doesnt make u a hockey expert. Your arguments are ridiculous. And how can u say Philly is a team to beat when they have had a HORRENDOUS time in goal all season? Please stop. Go back to the EPL discussion
Johnny please refer all Senator talk, that's Ottawa Senator talk to the Official Ottawa Senator thread...
Heading to the game tonight with the lady, hoping the Rangers aren't looking past the Canes with Pitt coming Thursday
With the Pens surge as of late, i don't think the Rangers will look past a much needed 2 points tonight. you will see a win.
Hagelin is one blazing skater, Gaborik is scoring again as is Richards. I'd like to see hagelin and Stepan both get 20 goals by the end of the season.
Don't break this line up Torts. I know you want to, and I know you will after one mediocre period. But don't.
Looks like B Richards is breaking out now. Not sure what you guys are arguing about, it always comes down to who peaks at the right time. I could see any of NYR, PHI, PIT, NJ, Boston or Ottawa making deep tournament runs if it all comes together at the right time. The phrase "lightning in a bottle" applies to hockey more than any other sport IMO. Right now the Pens are beastin' but it won't matter if they suck for 4 games in April.
