Excellent. Gives time for Ellis to develop over the next couple of seasons.

Glad they signed him. Very surprised he signed prior to hitting the open market. Makes me very curious what the numbers are.

nice an intact DL going into the season. now we can focus on what should be the heart of this D - the linebackers.

me thinks its imperative that we come away with 2, thats right 2, potential starters at LB via the upcoming draft.

dare i say it if the jets can be as successful as the texans have been on the D side of the ball via the draft we may very well be able to field a D better than 09.

Great to hear. hes a stud NT thats great against the run.

  11. I'm actually shocked Pouha didn't try his luck in FA.

Very pleased this got done and that it is only a 3 year deal. That should allow Pouha to transition to a part time role moving forward

Sweet, just what we've been waiting to hear!
Now let's start filling the holes and adding some quality depth.

I'm conflicted on this one. Pouha shouldn't be on the field on 3rd down unless it's a 3rd and short. A big part of the Jet's defensive inconsistency at the end of games last year was their inability to get the right personnel on the field when the opponent was in no-huddle and hurry-up modes.

He's a solid run stopper at NT but the teams that beat the Jets on the ground last year did it with big fast edge runners.

I guess it is good for continuity but I don't really see Pouha as the kind of guy who is going to be a big difference maker against the Giants, Saints, Cowboys or Lions in the Super Bowl. He obviously wasn't a difference maker against New England last year.

Yeah that's the upside here. Nobody works harder than Pouha and he's made himself a plus player by effort. That's a good message to send to the locker room.

Probably right. Pouha wasn't skipping free agency for 4 million a year.

    lol what

If Pouha gets 3 years 21 million Tanny should be fired on the spot

Thats nothing short of completely absurd and ridiculous

Pouha is a 2 down run stuffer, 4 ~ million a year is generous,

3 years 12-14 million is all hes worth, if you get into 15million + territory its time to move on.

    Hes 33 for christsakes

If the Jets are giving an aging second tier NT 7mil per year, they just got fleeced.
