Not sure this is as big of an indictment on Sanchez as it seems. We haven't reached a Super Bowl in 43 years. Playing the odds, it's easy to say that he won't lead us there.

I'm sure the results would have been similar if the question was "Will the Jets reach the Super Bowl by 2020?"

Its how a lot of posters make up arguments. They think anyone who wants to give Sanchez another year only loves Sanchez or they think he is HOFer. They don't understand that Sanchez might still have some potential or that he might have had a stinger for the second half of the season.

They also don't see the fact that if Peyton Manning said no, that means we cannot sign him no matter how much we want to. So at this point, this deal gives us more cap to improve the TEAM which I think is great. The team needs improvement at many positions and this deal allows it.

My assumption is that Hunter will be in a reserve role in 2012. I may be optimistic on that but I can't see the Jets starting him after the debacle at RT in 2011.

If they do start him it's going to have to be in a much simpler set that minimizes the amount of thinking that he has to do so that he can spend the most resources on staying vertical and between his man and whoever has the ball.

I'm not suggesting that Wayne Hunter is dumb btw, I don't think that at all. I do think that he's over-matched skills-wise on an NFL field and that asking him to do very complex things when he should be focused on basic competency is an aggravating factor that probably pushes things to the point of absurdity. I think that's what we witnessed last season.

then let him handle the contracts and bring in a real personnel guy ( wolff, tuna, casserly, etc. ) to actually handle the roster.
miami is moving up talent-wise based on players the tuna and wolff brought in.

Do I believe Sanchez can get better .. I do with all my heart extending his contract after he went 8-8 and had terrible chemistry with a lot of the players now that my friends is ridiculous. I'm on a temporary break from my love for the Jets. Right now I just like them .

    ....

"For an extra $2.75 million, Sanchez gave the Jets three straight option years, allowing the team to keep him if he finally realizes his full potential — and to cut him without further investment after the 2013 season, the 2014 season, or the 2015 season.

The contract also could be called a glorified restructuring. Per a source with knowledge of the details, Sanchez’s $11.75 million base salary for 2012 has been converted to an $8 million signing bonus, a fully-guaranteed base salary of $3.25 million, and a $500,000 workout bonus.

The move creates $6.4 million in 2012 cap space."

How people take this without anything other than a good reaction is beyond me.

For some reason, a lot of "experts" and "analysts" have trouble figuring out the pros of this contract. I thought it was fairly obvious what the Jets were doing, especially after reading this, but many still think we need to keep Sanchez the whole 5 years

Quite easy. Mark Sanchez, one of, if not the, worst starting qb in the NFL is going to be the qb of the New York Jets. The money is irrelevant. It means that the Jets will not win a Superbowl again next year. It means another one of Mangold's, Revis's, Cro's, etc.. prime years will have been wasted.

And it makes it even more ludicrous when this prevents the team from getting one of the 3 best qb's of all-time.

The move is quite frankly a joke.

The only joke is your blind, irrational hatred for Sanchez.

Again, any person who wants to say this shit better tell me how great he is after Manning has better numbers next year and takes his team further.

Oh, and I hope to hear how irrational my hatred is after each of his 10+ inevitable pick 6's, 30+ turnovers, and the countless other retarded throws.

Because I promise you, since I will not spend a cent on this team while Sanchez is the qb and an idiotic accountant with no football iq is the gm, that I will point out how much he sucks next year.

And then we will see who was irrational. Me, or the people who talk about wanting to win a Superbowl, and the defend the clown who is the qb.

You do realize Manning said no right? What was your plan once said Manning said no? If he doesn't want to sign here, there is no way for us to get him.

    Source please.

I have literally not read any source that said he didn't want to sign here. It was all speculation based on the 3 teams he initially chose to visit.

Until he signed, nothing was out of the question.

I'm not going to waste my time replying to your useless diatribe, it's obvious that you offer nothing to these forums besides just bashing on Sanchez in every single post. You can save yourself the time and just put "I hate Mark Sanchez and I think he's the worst QB in the league" in your Sig and then actually -- and god forbid -- contribute some useful insight to these forums and not be a troll.

It's obvious Mark Sanchez raped your father or something and you're still dealing with that emotional trauma.

Just let those emotions out, man!

Sanchez's winning record speaks for itself. Your inane arguments also speak for themselves.

Tannenbaum should have a statue built in his image at Florham Park, for not putting a full-court press on for a player who's had more neck surgeries than Super Dave Osborne.

I can't believe some fans are willing to give up on Chez after 3 seasons when the other team in the fuckin city was going through the exact same bullshit with Eli Manning during his first 3.
