That's one of two big name FA's I could get on board with signing. It would be tough ignoring the RT position but if it meant adding super mario I might be able to live with it.

He has had 3 years to prove himself. How much more can you give a QB with virtually very little improvement? I dont expect Sparanos offense to be much better. We are going to be a run heavy offense without a good RB. Greene is nothing more than average RB, not to mention we have no run blocking tight ends as well. The only way this offense will do much this year if we can get a top notch WR or possibly Braylon if he plays like he did a few years ago and Sanchez at least plays like an average QB instead of a bottom 1/3 like he has been for 3 years.

That is the Sanchez fans ONLY argument is the fluke playoff games hes played decently in. Ask any other teams fans or players if they think he is even close to Drew Brees or Rodgers and they would laugh at you.

I mean if he won 1 road playoff game I guess you could call it a fluke. Winning 4 road playoff games isn't a fluke. Considering he has the sixth best post season passer rating in NFL HISTORY, I'd say he's been a bit better than decent. Bad QB's don't consistently win playoff games with high efficiency.

Obviously he's not close to Brees or Rodgers as a QB yet, maybe never. I'm not comparing him to those guys. I'm showing you facts which you chose to ignore over and over again by saying he didn't help the Jets in the post season and it was in spite of him that they won games. You are wrong and the facts prove you're wrong so stop lying and spewing bullshit. It's not a good look for you.

Having a QB that can perform well in the playoffs is huge. That's a big reason why Jets fans should be a little more patient with Sanchez. Sanchez played poorly last year, especially towards the end of the season when he could have helped us get into the playoffs. There were a lot of other poor contributors too.

He had 3 years with a retard offensive coordinator. Take a look at what he does with someone else for a couple of years and give your investment an opportunity to grow.

He threw 3 TD passes and no Int's against the Pats in New England in January. The Jets won the game.

I have been watching the Jets for 41 years now and I have never seen a Jets QB go into somebody else's house in January and beat them while performing like that.

According to Milcus the significance of that win was non-existent because of course Sanchez was carried to the win by the Jets. Just like Joe Flacco the year before. What those two guys did as their team took out the Pats in Gillette was identical.

The best thing about the extension? Either Milcus is wrong and looks like a fool in a few years or he suffers along with the rest of us. It's a no-win situation for him.

If the Jets don't fix the problem at RT Sanchez probably won't play well and we won't be back in the playoffs.

I have a couple of problems with this part.

    A) You think that we will have to wait a few years for milcus to look like a fool, when it easily happens 10-20 times a week.

    B) He'll probably be permabanned long before the 2012 season starts, so it's moot.

This Sportsnation poll says it all:

Will Mark Sanchez lead the Jets to a Super Bowl?
    9% - YES
    91% - NO

about 17,500 votes so far. and this tells it all.... Sanchez has alot of people to prove wrong, and I hope he does it.

lol, you've got to bbe kidding? the jets didn't need any leverage on sanchez, they've had it all along with bottom 1/3 of the league play. all the other message boards are roaring with laughter over this signing. jets fans better hope it's an early april fools joke because if sanchez doesn't like totally become a new elite player, the jets will be cellar dwellers in the league for a decade!

this has become the joke of the day on most sports websites. LOL

only because fans on other sites never read anything but the headlines - anyone that actually looks at this cannot see it as anything other than a smart move by the Jets FO once it became clear that there are no other viable options out there.

I am 100% behind this, the haters can say what they want, give Sanchez pass protection and he will be fine....

Nobody is calling him a savior. Nobody is calling him elite. It's completely reasonable to think hell get better, the extension is very cap friendly. Do some math and stop distorting others' take.

i have to agree with you biggs. and it scares me that they are that worried about surviving the next 2 years.

i dont like sanchez, i was hoping we could look forward to a qb battle in camp this year and hopefully see him riding the pine but now i am stuck watching him for the next 2 years. i hope the kid does well and improves but i just dont think its going to happen. oh well hopefully they use some of the money they will be saving in cap space and do something good with it for this year.

Glad we are sticking with him. I didnt see the 49ers, Texans, Ravens, Falcons, Bucs who are all a healthy Peyton Manning away from winning it all (well maybe not the bucs...) try to get Peyton. They are all sticking with their guys, and the Jets followed the same path and really never seemed serious about Peyton.

Hes got a lot to prove next year, along with guys like Freeman, Smith, Flacco, Ryan, Schaub etc. Its all part of the process.

who was available that (i) would have a chance to unseat Sanchez and (ii) is so good that you would be happy to have them as the Jets QB for the next 3-4 years?

Henne and Campbell were the only 2 realistic prospects and I would rather stick with Sanchez than take either of them.

So he was guaranteed $17.5 million already and what that was added was 2.5 million more guaranteed money? Or, was he going to be paid this money only if kept on the roster?
