Tanny is about to pull the trigger on something and there is going to be a very large bang. Max leverages Brick and Sanchez for the year...commits all in to his last two blue chip guys. You know he's got at least 6-8 million hanging back in reserve with Cro and Holmes restructures if need be. I'm thinking we might be looking at a blockbuster Mario Williams type acquisition. There is no way in hell that Tanny would go and voluntarily commit an extra ~$17M before free agency started with an expected extra bump to the cap total of a couple mil etc etc if he wasn't planning on MAKING SOME MOVES. I feel like he finally got rid of Schotty and he's about to finally let the big dog eat...just when Sanchez should be mature enough to really improve the offense for the first time. The Peyton rouse/Sanchez marriage phase is now complete....act two...the Free Agency bloodbath. I'm stoked.
I hope he doesn't go all in on one player. I hope he builds a solid supporting cast and fills the Jets biggest needs.
We need offensive help forget Mario Williams, we have one starting WR and Kerley we don't need help on defense as much as we do on offense with the exception of a safety
They could also be solving LG for the next 5 seasons by getting Carl Nicks who is going to be 27 next season and has been to two straight pro bowls and was All-Pro last season. He's 6'5" and 340 lbs and would make the Jets left side elite again. Matt Slauson then either takes RT or becomes quality depth, something the Jets haven't had in a couple of years now.
Pass rusher When are we gonna get it through our heads we need a pass rusher above all else. This defense would rival the 2000 Ravens if it had a legit pass rusher.
Oh I would love that so much. Nicks is an absolute beast. Him Brick and Mangold would make the left side of our line ridiculous. Slauson might be able to move to RG or atleast be nice depth for a year waiting for Moore to retire. I don't know if he has that lateral movement to be a RT but he honestly can't be worse than Hunter.
It'd still be fuckin nasty. Our CBs are fuckin awesome. A passrush would help the Safety problem. I think it'll take more than one guy to get us a dominant passrush though.
He started at both tackle positions and RG at Nebraska. In 2007 he played RT all season. His versatility is what caught Bill Callahan's eye and one of the reasons Callahan wanted him drafted by the Jets when he got here.
This is exactly my thoughts also, maybe a Wayne or Williams deal. I hope he didnt give Mark this extension to sit on his hands and do nothing with this cap space.....
I totally agree. I feel like it gives the Jets a chance this year. I am not Sanchez' biggest fan, but I'm not a hater either, so I am excited to see him in a new offense to see how much of this was Schotty. I mean, Favre and Pennington both had career years once they got away from Schotty. Now with this cap room, hopefully the Jets can plug some holes and get back to the playoffs.
Isnt it obvious that now were gonna make Hunter the top paid offensive lineman now ? After last offseason, im not getting my hopes up for anything. Though I think this team needs an offensive playmaker more than a defensive one. Obviously a signing like VJ wouldn't really make sense since we got huge money tied up in Holmes, but who knows. All I know is after last year we all shouldn't expect anything
Nothing we didn't already know, but: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/03/mark_sanchezs_extension_locks.html
