In two years when we finally realize Sanchez is garbage Jets fans will kill Tanny for not pushing hard and signing Peyton, When Manning takes some team to the Superbowl and we go 6-10 with Sanchez Tanny will get fired and it's long overdue he lost his touch
In 5 years when you realize how ignorant you sounded here you'll probably pretend like this isn't your account.
Not sure what either of you are talking about. Jake Delhomme was really good for a decent stretch. His first 3 years as a starter were far better than Sanchez's (he was much older of course). From 2003-2008 his numbers were very good. I'd love for Sanchez to have similar 28-31 year old seasons as Jake Delhomme.
Smart idea to free up cap space to get some more pieces for the team but I don't think Sanchez finishes this contract. He is not a good qb, but is being paid like a great one. He is either cut after next season or the year after. True story.
He never even threw for over 30 TDs or 4000 yards? http://www.nfl.com/player/jakedelhomme/2500361/careerstats I wouldnt call that successful. He was a decent QB but Mark has much more potential than Delhomme ever had.
Year after. That was what this deal did. Instead of paying 14M this year and then 2 next year if he's cut 8.5 to keep him, it is $20MM guaranteed over the next 2, probably something close to 10 and 10. It bought him a year, if he improves, maybe he sees the other 30-40MM if not they cut bait.
I guess, but so did Ryan Leaf. Every full year on Delhomme's resume before 2009 was better than anything Sanchez has put up yet, and that is even before taking into account that QB numbers are higher across the board over the last 3 years.
Johnny, As we have talked about this Mark has yet to reach his potential and I understand that but after 3 years when is it enough already with the same stupid mistakes? We can all blame the wideouts, the o line, and schotty but this falls on Marks shoulders more than anyone else. Sorry but in one way this does free up cap space(i hope) for something good for once but he hasnt earned his first contract and we extend him. Sorry but he is not a franchise Qb at this point in his career. He is being paid as a top 10 Qb with the production of a bottom portion of the NFL Qb. If he doesnt improve and become top 5-7 this year we need to just move on from him. This is a what have you done for me lately league and we all know this.
Smart move by the Jets. By realizing Marks their long term starter we're now able to sign another impact player. To think we have a shot at Super Mario now sounds awesome. Not too many better GM's at working with the cap then Tanny
First off, my bad for not answering you PM, I have gotten a chance to respond back as Id fully want to. 3 years is an extremely small sample size, as I have already said. You cant just say that 3 years is what makes a QB good or not based on stats. You know how many QBs would be cut if that were the mentality? Some guys like Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, or Drew Brees too name a few. There is no way we can determine right now that he isnt a franchise QB, you just cant. In order to win you need to have patience, groom your team, and eventually get to the promise land. Giving up on Sanchez already would be ridiculous, with this new money we can sure up the team further improving us as a whole, its the right move. In years to come this will look like a very smart move.
