Well this smooths things over quickly with Mark after they dabbled in Manning. And if he takes a step forward this yr then Jets probably have him at good value. If he doesn't progress then I wonder what this deal commits them for.
Exactly. I'm really curious to see what kind of cap relief it brings. Cimini was speculating they used interest in Manning as leverage to get a deal out of Sanchez.
im interested to see what this does for the cap this upcoming season. I expect it to allow us a good amount of breathing space and maybe we'll be able to snag a few people in FA.
5 yr contract means everything for the player, but not much to the team. If they want to get rid of him after next year, they'll find a way to do it. I like the move, though. The Manning stuff was a way to light a fire under Sanchez's ass. And to get him at a decent rate.
Say what you will about Tannenbaum, but he broke into the league as a cap specialist. He never makes a move without thinking of the future. Every year we're supposed to be in cap hell. Can't wait to hear it from the Tannenbaum bashers tomorrow how we'll be in cap hell for the next couple years. :drunk:
This has to be a move to free up some immediate cap room, no? I like the decision. Not like they were in on Peyton but this emphatically says that Mark is the guy.
Of course not. Most teams aren't. Doesn't mean fans from almost every team aren't going to be bringing it up. The 49ers barely lost the NFCCG and there is a lot of talk about him going there. In reality I think he ends up in Miami or KC.
So? Sanchez must have heard the Jets were looking at Manning, that means they were looking for change. If you heard your boss was looking to fire/replace you, and then a day later you hear that 3 other people are the leaders to get fired, it wouldn't worry you why your name was included initially? I would be wondering a little bit what was going on and rejudge where I stand with the boss.
Hope this saves us a nice chunk of cash, Tanny is that dude when it comes to cap work, So I have faith.
