Yup. This must be how we're getting cap room for this off season. MUST be a more cap friendly contract, that's the only for Jets to do it, right??

Sanchez had 2 yrs remaining on rookie deal, was due to make $8.5M base, $2.75 ros bonus this year. This could be cap-related move. #Jets

Tannenbaum: Contract ext with Sanchez. In negotiations for several weeks. "We feel really good about Mark as our starter."

Tannenbaum said they "looked into possibility" of Manning. Discussed internally, but kept pushing extension with Mark. #Jets

Gotta like this. It must open a ton of cap room for this season and beyond.

Big Tanny fan, but even I've been questioning him lately. Smart move, frees up money for this year presumably.

Same and this shows at least... That their is still some "team" players on the team. If this takes money from dirty or just backloads it to free up money now what a guy!

Hell yeah. They probably freed up space with him too, I'm glad this organization is being smart about our QB.

Totally. This must bring some heavy duty cap relief, because otherwise why do it? I mean if it's a deal to give some room, then Jets get some cap, Sanchez gets some security, good deal all around.

Hopefully the money will be used to go after an elite pass rusher?
