As a Jets fan, I liked the idea of the West Side stadium, for the attention they'd get as its primary tenant, and to build an identity for themselves. I felt this way even though I'm a long time season ticket holder living in Bergen County NJ. I'm as a loyal a fan as the LI and Queens guys, so I empathize. Figured a return to NY would be a plus even if it meant inconvenience to me. But can you only imagine what those PSL's would have been?? Holy shit, it'd be like buying a Manhattan coop. All that stuff happened prior to the economic collapse. Gotta wonder how it would have played out. Chances are the Jets would have had to BEG the Giants to let them rent again. BTW, I wonder how all the special offers and deals to other events are working out for the PSL owners. That's got to be awesome. Wrestle-mania, Lacrosse, Chesney. Just awesome.
Hahahahaha.... yeah. I was for the WSS also. I thought Queens was just too cramped and for me (Middlesex County) Manhatten would have been probably a little more convenient, I don't know. And I actually thought I'd buy a PSL in the WSS if they ever built it. Of course, I was thinking a couple of grand per seat and not $15,000-$20,000 or whatever. The economy would certainly never have supported that rail-yard proposal. It was a great idea on paper buy HORRIBLY expensive. So when they came out with the "shared" concept right here in Jersey, I was all for that. I was picturing a new version of the covered tier levels of Giants Stadium with, of course, all the ease of use and maybe even more. Little did I know they would regress. The only thing improved over Giants Stadium is the luxury boxes and elite, expensive club areas. All else diminished in value for me, yet is so much more expensive.
I have no issues with the shared stadium. I have issues with the design flaws and the ticket prices. I can sit at home alot cheaper with a better view. PSL fee just wasnt for me and at this time im not ready to invest in it either.
But didn't you think back then when it was announced that between two NY teams who were both planning new facilities that this combination of two powerful NY NFL franchises would team up for something absolutely outstanding? At minimum, as good if not better than Indy's Stadium, Seattle, Houston, Phoenix (insert several others here) and dare I even say it.... Dallas. I thought we'd not only have a retractable roof, it'd be a unique one. This is what angers me. Not just the PSL deal and lack of escalators. The anger comes from the promotion and hype. And then....... This.
I agree and yes I did think that this place would be the Taj Mahal of all NFL stadiums, boy was I surprised its nothing near as elaborate as I had envisioned. Its all about making money for the Tischs,Maras and Woody Johnson. The PSL was a sure fire way to recoup cash back and screw and the real fans. Agree on the retractable roof, CANT WAIT until Super Bowl Sunday when theres a blizzard.
I'm sorry if you thought I was spamming or my story was fake but this is the guy with the username Swomiak that just got banned. I was just trying to get 30 post real quick because you need that in order to post on the buy or sell tickets forum on here.* So here's the thing. I fell on some bad fortune and lost my job. So instead of paying for season ticket I would like to pay my mortgage instead and put food on the table. So I got in contact with my rep (Brian Wenzel) and told him my situation. He said if I do not renew and pay the season ticket amount and PSL payment for the year then the jets will take whatever I have already payed for towards my PSL and will put my account into collections and it will go towards my credit. I understand I never gave my SSN but I wasn't sure if they could or would do something like that. I'm just looking for help.
I also have some screen shots of emails I get from the jets as a PSL holder if you still don't believe me.
I've got news for everyone. I probably could have been talked into 4 PSLs if I had walked into the stadium you are describing. Roof, climate controlled, excellent views for all, great parking, easy access. Hell yes, that's a whole other story. But not for this POS. To begin with, everyone should look at 17a's pic of the old stadium. They should have demolished that stadium FIRST and built the new one right there on the same turf. That was Mistake One. Jamming it up against the race track was a ludicrous thought and a serious design challenge. But they never addressed that challenge. They built it anyway with plans that were made for a free-standing building with plenty of room on all 4 sides, not jammed in against something else. I mean, it's not like you're building this is downtown Manhatten. There was room. They just didn't use it.
Alright, let's talk frankly. To answer your question, I don't know if they could or would do something like that. I have never read the fine print on a contract, BUT YOU SHOULD. Pay particular attention to any clauses as to what RECOURSE they have. Of course, any decent lawyer is going to have language in there that is basically going to tell you that you'll be strung up by your nuts from the Xanadu building on opening day. But you really need to see exactly what the penalties are. I think you could probably get away with telling them, "Look, I can't pay you and will not be paying you, but I'm asking you nicely to allow me to forfeit all monies paid so far in exchange for relieving me of my obligations under the contract." If you can get someone in the FO to tell you okay, then get their name and construct a "This is to confirm our phone conversation" letter addressed to this guy (return receipt requested) to inform them that you will "not be able to buy the tickets and appreciate your generous offer to allow me to forfeit all monies paid in exchange for being released from all the terms of the contract." I have no idea if it will work ,but it's worth a try. Otherwise, you can also sell your PSL. You might have to accept less than you bought it for, but whatever. The only thing with doing that is, I believe the Jets have stated that the PSL is not transferrable until paid in full, so you would have to have someone who was willing to give you the money up front (or send it into the Jets for you) in return for a written contract from you to do everything necessary to turn over ownership to them. Good luck finding that guy though.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I cant see how you can be held financially responsible if you decide to walk away, they made money and they can resell your PSL. I would call and demand to speak to a supervisor and tell them your story. This would be sad if they decide to put a mark on your credit history. It seems that PSL holders are now hostages of the NYJETS. So glad I decided not to invest and wont even consider it after hearing this. Good Luck.
Thank you. I'm going to look over my contract tonight, or at least try and find it. You are correct the PSL is non tranferable until paid in full but he also said there is ways around that. Like having them pay off the account while the account is still in your name and so on. I'm going to look at the transfer PDF file they have on the website to get a better feel. I'm so sad because this was something I would have loved to pass down to my kids one day. So if anyone is willing to buy 2 seats at a discounted price now is your time to get them. Thank you again for your help.
This possibility was known from the outset and discussed here many, many times. I fell bad for this guy too, but I'm afraid this is not the last one we're going to hear from.
I will also keep you updated as this progresses. I believe today was the last day to sign up for ACH for your account. I'm sure within the next month they will think of some other gimik to get people to pay early and I'll be getting flooded with calls and emails.
What about putting them up for bid on E-bay or asking a local Fire Dept with a raffle license to raffle them off for you and donate some of the profit to them if any.
Finding someone to pay off your PSL first before they have it in their name is going to require some innovative financial manuevering, I'm afraid. Only a dodo would be party to that. The easiest way I can think of as to how this might take place is to find out from the Jets if they have a ticket room that you and the buyer can go to at the Jets office, where you and the buyer are present and the buyer hands the Jets the cash for the payoff on the PSLs. In return, you sign off right then and there and the buyer walks out with his PSL in his name and you are off the hook. I have done this at Motor Vehicle on several occasions. It's the only way to settle the thing in complete confidence. so first fine out if the Jets have such a program and then you'd have ot find a buyer. But he may offer you less than what you owe, so be prepared for that. Which means, you are basically upside down dna will have to come to the table with some cash of your own to get out from under.
He can put them on eBay until the cows come home, but the Jets are saying the transfer will not take place until it is paid off. So now he sells them to the buyer and gets in trouble with eBay too, if he can't transfer the things. This is what we all warned about ad nauseum.
The NYJETS have a deposit correct? So if you wanted to forfeit that, they should be ok with it as they can then re-sell the PSL and profit. The problem is the PSLs arent selling thats why they are not allowing you to do this.
If I find my contract I will scan it and upload it so you can read. I'm sure you would love to see what one looks like.
