But that is exactly what you are insisting. Nnamdi showed multiple signs of wanting to come to the Jets- more signs than towards the Eagles, at least publicly.

Then we dive head first in on signing Manning and we lose any real chance at trying to fill multiple holes through FA.

    This poll is just sad.

Almost 45% of this board is buying into the media’s bullshit with Peyton and giving up on a QB that showed promise.

Nnamdi is a dick? Really? That is really your response to that? Cmon.

He’s probably a nicer guy than Peyton. He was nominated for the Walter Peyton Man of the Year Award and won the Presidents Volunteer Service Award along with a number of others. He’s just a dick in your eyes because he didnt want to come here... Cant wait til Peyton does the same.

First off no need for put downs. I confused your post with PatsFanTX. My apologies.

You used the Giants game and game winning drives as the crux of your argument for why the team didn't have an elite defense. My point is those are poor parameters to judge a defense by as a whole, since one of them is cherry picking a play (and again, my apologies, since TX said the same thing, but also cherry picked other plays as well), and game winning drives (to which I pointed out our elite '09 defense allowed 5 game winning drives to end the game, yet they were still an elite defense).

No, I don't advise Romney. I don't even follow politics all that much, but apparently you do.

You also said you didn't 'care what the stats say' which is one of the most preposterous arguments anyone can have in sports. If we ignore stats, what do we use to quantify our arguments. An ouija board?

And btw, after re-reading your post, picking one play (the 99 yd play) no matter how long or devastating it was, is the exact definition of cherry picking. And you tell me I have a RC problem?

I find it amusing that more than half the board wouldn't want Payton Manning as the Jets QB. I think if we could rent him for a couple of years it would be unbeliveable to go into the season as a SB favorite instead of a huge ?

As far as where he will go and what he will cost, my guess is Miami. Very good team with lots of money and the AFC is the weaker confrence right now.

I could see Seattle or AZ but if I'm Payton Manning the last thing I want to do is face the 49ers 2 a year.

I don't give a fuck if he goes to Miami. Not like they're a QB away from serious contention. They got other problems and the Jets have beaten PM before.

    LMAO!!!!

So the Jet D in your estimation was "by themselves" responsible for over half the Jet losses last year? That's pretty funny.

The Jets not only gave up fewer yardage than 27 other teams in the league. They also at 5 yds per play gave up the least ypp than 27 other teams. What complicates the picture somewhat is that they were much further down in ppg, But team ppg includes all points given up by the team. On that score that includes 4 TD's off fumbles, the Jets being first on the league in that negative category, and 3 Interception returns, tied for second.

Another consideration is a team that gives up so few yards per play and low total yardage can still give up points. How? If the O leaves the D with poor field position, that's how.

No, the team stats show the Jet D was fifth in the league in yardage given up and yardage per play. The O shared the blame for total points given up and for poor field position.

Turning to individual games, the Jets WON their first game due to the game turning interception by Revis, setting up Folk's FG to win it. In fact the game wasn't tied until a SPECIAL TEAMS play, a blocked punt run in by Trufant, tied the score. If it weren't for D and special teams, the O had not scored enough points to win.

The Jax game was strong by all squads, so let's move to the third game. That I will give you, although Sanchez had a rather mediocre game, too.

The loss to Baltimore was clearly on the O, with three TD's scored off turnovers by Sanchez. Next.

First NE. The Pats had the worst ranked pass D in the league, yet Sanchez could only get 166 yards against them. Meanwhile NE had one of the best offenses, and you think you beat them by only passing for 166 yards? The running game was also nothing special. How you hang this on the D is beyond me. Next.

First Miami, the Jets held the fish to 6 points. Doesn't the D get some credit there? Next.

San Diego. The Jet D got two interceptions against Rivers and their high powered O, the key play being Revis's interception returned for 64 yards to the Charger 19 when SD had been going for a TD already ahead in the fourth quarter, since the Jet O had only scored 17 by then. Win goes to the D. Next.

Bills first. Jet D forced three turnovers, held the 4-1 Bills to 11 points. D gets the win. Next.

NE second. The Jets only scored 16 points against NE, Sanchez threw two interceptions and one for a pick six, and you list this as a game the D lost???? No they didn't. Next.

Denver. The Jets scored only one TD, and 13 points. Denver's first possession, the Jet D stopped Denver on 4th and 1 for no gain, but following the O's ensuing three and out, Conley only punted for 13 yards, putting Denver at first and ten on the Jet 34. Yet the D held the Broncos to a FG. Denver's next possession the D forced a fumble and recovered it. Giving the ball to the O on Denver's 35, yet the Jet O could only come away with a FG.

The Jets in fact were ahead 10-3 with about twenty to go when Sanchez threw a pick six, allowing the Broncos to tie the score. Thereafter they could only get one more FG. SUre everyone knows the D gave up the drive to Denver, but it was the only TD they gave up all game. The D gave up a total of 10 points in Denver's house, and you blame them? Nope. The O lost that game. Next.

Buffalo second. This win we will give the O, particularly Burress's spectacular sideline catch when the Jets were behind. Next.

DC. In a tale of two halves, the Jet D shut down the Skins' passing attack. This win is shared by the O and D. Next.

KC. D holds KC to ten points. At the least this win is also shared. Next.

Philly. Sanchez was putrid, throwing 2 ints and for only 150 yards. The running game sucked, too. Ok, Vick had a very good game, but this loss was a Jet team effort. Still, even an average defensive effort would not have been enough to win the game, so you can hardly say this loss was on the Jet D. Next.

Giants. Jets gained an average of only 3.7 per pass play. Add in Sanchez's two ints, his lost fumble and perhaps worst of all that totally stupid safety, and this loss was on the O. Next.

second Miami. Despite the Jet D getting two interceptions from Moore, Sanchez had to top that and throw three. This loss was totally on the O.

So, the only loss the D was primarily responsible for was the Oakland game. Meanwhile the D was primarily responsible for winning the games against Dallas, first Miami, San Diego, and first Bills, while the Jet O can only claim primary responsibility for a win in the second Bills game. The O also clearly was primarily responsible in losing the games to the Ravens, Denver, Giants and second Miami. There were other games on balance the Jets lost more due to the O, but I said "clearly" in the preceding sentence.

So on analysis your five losses is only one, and also does not take into account the wins that the D was primarily responsible for.

With Manning they are a very good team and the AFC East doesn't have the kind of defenses that are going to beat him up unlike going to the NFC West where the 49ers D is likely to kill him.

The problem the Jets have is if the Dolphins get him and we have another mediocre none playoff year, Rex and Tanny are as good as gone. Tanny is gambling on his future either way he plays this.

A healthy Manning makes a 2-14 team a superbowl contender, so I agree they'd be very good WITH him. They aren't a very good team right now like other options would be.

Jim Irsay: "er, um, er, um, er, um, er, um...'

Wasn't he expecting this press conference?

If he goes to Miami then wayne will too for a cheap deal just to keep playing together.

    Manning

    Marshall
Wayne if signed or other WR (colston, meechum, draft floyd)
    Bess
    Hartline

    Bush
    Thomas

    Fasano

Seems like a good o that manning can work with be very hard to jets to beat! Sorry but miami and pats will be tough 4 games and could see us losing all 4. If pats get wallace or V. Jackson which I think they will get 1 then we are done and better pray!

I don't want the jets renting a player for a year or two. I've seen enough of Sanchez to know that he has the ability to eventually put it together. Jets front office needs to stop thinking only about the short term. If we fill our needs at certain positions we will be contenders for years.

Manish took down the Sanchez-Ryan background photo on his Twitter page he's had for years and replaced it with a Joe Namath. Hedging his bets?

I think if we can make it work financially you get Manning. Especially if it means preventing him from going to Miami. I like Sanchez but if you get a Peyton Manning, first round HOFer even at 80% of his best its still better than 96% of QB available you pull that trigger. This is not Favre 2.0 or anything like that.

Their D is switching to a 4-3 and is a question mark. Colts won only one Super Bowl with the best QB I've ever seen play because they weren't a complete team. I think P Manning to Miami makes them 9/10 win team. We will battle them and could def split. Bring it.
