Well if he goes to the Texans we're going to have a flood of "sign that beast!" threads about Schaub. If he goes to the Cards the Sanchez-haters will spend a lot of time trying to make Kevin Kolb look better than Sanchez. I think it's going to get ugly no matter what happens.
"that what there planning"???? I think you mean "that's what they're planning". Come on Jets fans. Try to stay in school until at least the 6th grade. I think that's a fair request. And I think the (!!!) at the end of this post heading is a bit self serving. It's not like you just broke unbelievably surprising news, dude. We ALL knew it was coming. Get over yourself.
ugggh...... I have to agree with PatsTrollTX The defense was pretty good, but FAR from elite. Not to mention B.Scott is a year older/slower, is there a L/T replacement for B.Thomas and the possibility of Pouha not returning do not help. Also, the O-line is in flux. Hunter was one of the league's worst RTs, his 2nd rd replacement looks like a 6th rd project, Father time is putting a beating on Moore, and Slauson is just serviceable. This team is not as solid as everyone thinks. 2009 & 2010 they made the big QB moves because they had a very good team in place aside from the most important position. This year, not so much + a young prospect who shaky at times has also shown flashes of coming up in the clutch.....
Top 5 D in a majority of categories is great no matter how you slice it. It may not be elite by our standards, but more than 80% of the league would beg for it including PatsTX. But agreed, if we somehow lose Scott/Pouha the D suffers as a result.
The Texans are still pretty high on Schaub, and I wouldn't be surprised if they extend him. Also, if Yates continues his development, he would be a legitimate starting NFL QB. Really can't see Manning ending up in Houston.
The Steelers cut James Farrior this off-season. The performance against Tebow probably was the decider there. Good teams see a weakness on their roster and they cut it aggressively. Great teams cut a year before they see the weakness. The Jets tend to sign those cuts...
The only play I "cherry picked" was the NYG game and I said that was debatable...(not to mention the longest offensive play in the history of the NFL i think isnt just cherry picking) The Denver Game was an entire drive - the length of the field. I even said that was debatable! But your argument makes no sense when referring to the OAK, NEx2, PHI games where they was embarrassed from the 1st whistle to the last... FAR FROM ELITE. Also to answer your question I am going to say that PITs D wasn't elite last season either, furthermore proving my point that statistics dont tell the real story. I didn't watch PIT all year like the Jets but I know Baltimore (an elite offense?) torched their D twice last year. So no I don't think they were an elite Defense. I also don't think the '09 Jets D was "elite" although better than last seasons....
Ya, they said this on Mike and Mike this morning and I didn't see it either. No cap space. I'd handicap it like this from what I've heard 1) Mia 2) Ari 3) Sea (Think it was Schefter who tweeted last night that their GM will open up a blank check for Manning) 4) WSH 5) NYJ
rich cimini was just on collin cowherd's show and basically said he considers it a long shot for peyton to end up here. Stating reasons such as peyton being a dome qb, and how the jets got a new offensive coordinator and also peyton and rex not being able to mesh because of their personalities.
Giving up on Sanchez would be a mistake. I'm on board with trying to bring in Peyton but not at the expense of giving up on Sanchez.Peyton is a temporary fix with 2 or 3 yrs at best left in the tank. I'm tired of stop gap guys. I want to build a team for the long run not the short run.
Well then you have a narrow minded view of 'elite.' The Jets D in '09 finished 1st in virtually every category. If that doesn't make you elite then idk what does? yes, that is the definition of cherry picking, analyzing a handful of plays to prove your point. There were over 1,000 offensive plays against us last year, and again you're cherry picking a handful of them. How about where the D picked off Rivers to preserve a victory? What about When Revis picked off Romo to line us up for that win? It works both ways. I never said the D was elite, but it was pretty darn good. And we weren't embarassed in one of those NE games, I believe we kept them in check until the final possession. But again, our D in '09 (yes that was an elite D) blew 5 (FIVE!) games in the final minute of that year. That's more than we blew this past year. It's just a terrible way to phrase an argument. Say the Jets D wasn't elite cause we couldn't stop opposing teams TE all season, not cause we let up a 99 yard TD on a busted tackle. Give me a break.
I just found an article (dated Mar 6 2012) written by someone who pays attention to the Texans and it is huge and in depth and seems to cover every aspect of the cap and he puts them at right under $14m http://www.battleredblog.com/2012/3...s-a-salary-cap-primer-applied-to-your-houston
You are correct, Houston is up against the cap bigtime. I also think your order of where Manning ends up is dead on.
Um Is a quarterback elite if he can't win a Super Bowl since Spygate? ats_suck: We can argue the definition of elite, but the Jets defense has been solid the past few years.
I think the new OC factor is actually a thing that would help, since Peyton is basically an OC on the field that will audible into whatever he sees. If you have a new offensive coaching staff, there's nothing that helps you more than having Manning. ...Which is one reason why I think Miami is the most likely.
Well, he figures in some cuts that haven't happened yet, but he goes through basically the whole CBA. Also takes into account dead money etc. and says he's seen the cap at 3m under and 25m under so he wanted to get a better idea.
Why do you continue to bring up that Giants game as if my argument is solely based on that play/game? Do you understand reading comprehension? How can you say the same things I am saying and completely disagree with me at the same time? Do you advise the Romney campaign?
If Peyton shows signs he wants to come to the Jets, we have to go all in. If it becomes clear in these coming days that he wants to go to a place like Arizona thats quiet, then forget it. Dont even bother. We cannot tie ourselves down like Nnamdi last year, and watch other players sign elsewhere.
