With Hunter manning RT, I sure he would just jump at the opportunity to play here especially since his brother just won a superbowl in the same city.

Bingo. Manning is my all time favorite NFL player, and part of me would love to see him here, but even the biggest Peyton fans need to look at the situation rationally. How are we creating space to get Peyton and what is your contingency plan if Peyton suffers a neck injury at the hands of our mediocre offensive line?

You guys can't sit there and clamor for Peyton without having a sufficient plan in place to answer those 2 questions.

I dont think its a great idea. 2 years ending in afccgs and one mediocre year....im not ready to give up on the young qb yet. and manning would be temporary, and to sell tickets. like the favre mistake all over again

If Manning was almost healthy it would be a lot easier to sign him, almost a no-brainer

But what if it might take him 9 months to a year and THEN you might get the real Peyton Manning. That's a much harder decision.

This is my approach as well. I don't really WANT them to get Manning, mostly because I'm not sure what his health situation is and I'm not ready to give up on Sanchez, which is essentially what this would be doing. Not like you'll sign Manning to a one year deal. Someone is going to offer him a multi-year deal and he'll take that instead...depending on the structure I guess (i.e. guaranteed money vs incentive laden contract).

That being said: If the Jets do sign Manning I'm not going to be terribly upset. It won't ruin my day, I'll say that much.

Overall though I don't really want him, I think Rex and co. are comfortable moving forward with Sanchez and, most importantly, I don't think Manning will want to play for the Jets.

Injury aside, do we know Manning will excel in a new system with new players and no dome in the Winter?

Those questions, along with the injury, cause too much uncertainty for me to accept signing him.

He's not under contract but I'm sure he's welcomed back..

If the Jets get Manning they'd probably have him work with Peyton while Sparano manages the run game, I'd think.

I just don't see how Tony Sparano would fit P Manning into his offense. I mean, I guess he ran a Run N' Shoot offense in college but......

Colts were a SB team with Manning almost every season. The one season he didn't play, Colts went 2-14. That tells you how much of a difference Manning can make. Don't compare Favre to Manning. Manning is on a whole new level and much better than Favre in their primes.

I am dead set against signing Manning. There are just so many reasons why this is a bad idea. First, Sanchez is young , was dealt a bad hand this year, and deserves a shot with an OC who is not a QB killer. Second, how and when would the Jets know Manning was healthy before they had to sign him? Third, this team has so many holes, spending the money on a risky Manning means those holes (RT, S, OLB, WR) do not get filled. The Colts were fading in 2010 with Manning because the money they had tied up in him prevented them from filling the rest of their roster with quality players. Fourth, been there done that with Favre and it was awful. Fifth, if it doesn't work, it sets the Jets back years.

Keyword almost. And yet both of them have won one Superbowl so what's your point? This team has a lot of holes and getting Peyton doesn't just give us the SB. Getting rid of Mark and not winning with Peyton could ruin this team for years in the future.

The Jets need to develop their QB, just like other SB winning teams have. No one player is winning us a Superbowl.

I voted no, but I have mixed feelings. Manning is my favorite active NFL player and it would be hard to be adamantly against signing him. However, I can't see him coming to this team. It isn't built for him. Plus, I would love to succeed with Mark as QB (and with a longer future).

Outside of a Super Bowl win he is the most successful QB in Jets history. Your an idiot.

Really, anyone voting yes is indicting themselves as having no football knowledge. Signing a 36 year old coming off of 3 surgeries is one thing. Givine up on a young football player, one who has proven he can win big games and plays well in big spots (something Peyton has rarely done, let's be honest) is another thing. You cannot give up on Sanchez this early, even for a HOF player like Peyton because you have to look at it this way - Peyton wouldn't have much left, even without this injury. He's 36! At the most, he has maybe 2 good years. It's not worth giving up on Sanchez for that.

    Fair enough. lol

The whole thing just seems too similar to the Brett Favre experiment. Let some other team go all-in with Manning.

He is Peyton Manning. If he wants to be here, I am sure this franchise will try to make a splash with Rex and Woody.
