I tend to agree with this. You just don't win with a bad qb very often in this league. 09 I think the Jets managed to pull it pretty well since I don't think anyone will tell you his rookie year was very great for him personally.
The Jets just got really lucky with the hot 3-0 start in '09 before the NFL had a book on Sanchez and before he discovered he was a raw rookie who was going to get eaten up if he was over-exposed. The trade for Braylon Edwards happened because Tannenbaum decided to try to catch lightning in a bottle after the fast start just as it was beginning to falter. Really the Jets should have gone about 7-9 that season with the rookie QB being the thing that was holding them back. After the 3-0 start they went 6-7 instead because the Jets threw away the developmental year for Sanchez and toned everything way down. Some day I'll write a chapter about the Bradway/Tannenbaum Jets but I'm way too close to it right now. It's too frustrating to watch the team rise a bit and then have the wheels come off again.
