Exclusive franchise tag, not the regular one.

Means more guaranteed money, and nobody can take him

And he had the same issues Bart Scott had last year. The Steelers lost to the Broncos for the same reasons the Jets did, primarily that their defense was a step slow against Tebow.

Didn't see this anywhere I looked

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...chise-safety-michael-griffin-according-source

The Tennessee Titans are likely to use their franchise tag on safety Michael Griffin, according to a league source.

Griffin was tied for the team lead with two interceptions last season. He also had 75 tackles and a forced fumble.

The two-time Pro Bowler has 17 interceptions in his career.

The 27-year-old safety was the Titans' 2007 first-round draft pick out of Texas and hasn't missed a game in his NFL career.

I know we probably don't have the money to pursue him anyway but this could mean they franchise Mario Williams.

No way they franchise Williams. Here is the number from a Texans site.

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/03/time-for-texans-to-decide-on-franchise-tag/

To franchise Williams, 27, would cost 120 percent of last year’s income, and he would cost $22.9 million against the cap. That wouldn’t be prudent for a team that’s frantically working to free cap dollars to re-sign players.

If I were him I'd hold out and demand a long term contract, even if it meant missing most of the season.

Titans placed their franchise tag on safety Michael Griffin, not cornerback Cortland Finnegan.

From the looks of it the Patriots, Saints, and Steelers are the teams that are going to get hit hard by the cap next season. They are going to lose key players, I expect the Patriots to find replacement, but I dont think the Steelers and Saints arent winning their divisions next year.
