I would very much doubt that. From what I read, Chad didn't know anything about the Favre situation until he was bundled onto a plane back to New York during a road trip for a pre-season game.

There would be no benefit at all in letting Sanchez know anything. If (and it's a huge 'if') the Jets looked into acquiring Manning, it might fall down at the first hurdle. Letting Sanchez know they'd even considered it would be a massive blow to his confidence. Bringing in a more capable backup is one thing, trying to get someone to start for a number of years is vastly different.

For what it's worth, I really hope the Jets don't go after Manning.

yah ending our 43 year superbowl drought isn't enough motivation, lets not go after manning and hope some dumb low IQ QB who routinely throws the ball to the opposition instead of his own players will take us to the promise land.

The thing to realize about the Manning chase is that he's basically going to get to pick where he goes. Brett Favre would never have come to the Jets if he had a real choice. He was under contract to the Packers and had faux retired. His leverage in getting away from them was to potentially show up at camp and force their hand. Their leverage was that he was under contract.

The trade to the Jets, which wasn't even on Favre's viewscreen when he decided to play another year or two was the result.

Peyton Manning is going to get released by the Colts. He's going to have control over where he winds up. He's going to pick and choose and go someplace that he feels comfortable playing out his last few seasons. For any number of reasons the Jets are not that place.

They're not stable at the moment and could easily see a regime change after 2012, particularly if a big splashy move like bringing in Peyton Manning at great expense failed.

Their locker-room is on fire at this point, with several issues that emerged last season. The team leadership in the locker-room is almost non-existent. Manning would have to come in here and somehow gain control of all that with a bunch of guys he's never played with before. Even signing Reggie Wayne and a few of Manning's ex-teammates isn't necessarily going to give him the kind of leverage he needs to get things under control.

Then there's the tabloid press in NYC, which is completely unlike anything Manning had to deal with in Indy. The press is going to lionize Manning on the way in and then eat him for supper at the first signs of trouble. They're going to do what they do best which is to sell newsprint any way they can.

There's just no argument from Peyton Manning's perspective that the Jets are a good landing spot for him. He's already got his ring. Yeah he'd probably like a couple of more but potentially tarnishing his career by coming to the Jets isn't more likely to get him those rings than some of the other choices he'll have. It'll be a sucker bet and he's smart enough to know that.

So he'll use the Jets as leverage and sign somewhere else. That's the most likely scenario at this point, that assuming that he even bothers to dip his toe in here before he signs with one of the teams on his short list.

It's possible that he's not in great shape and that when he starts letting prospective suitors do physicals that this comes out. In that case, yeah the Jets could get him in the absence of real interest from anybody else. We wouldn't enjoy the results very much though.

I really don't see why everyone wants Peyton so bad. We have a QB for the future and Peyton would only provide for 1 maybe 2 years and that's if his neck isn't still fucked up. He should just retire. I don't want to see another 40 yo on the field. He has nothing left to prove.

I think a lot of people doubt that we have the qb of the future on the books, that's why.

I think we need to prepare for a restart a year or two from now, but as always I sincerely hope I am wrong, I have seen Sanchez every snap as a jet and I really really wish I could say I believe in him.

The biggest problem is that Miami will most likely land manning, we will have the 4th best qb in the division! And the 3rd beat team.

Whoever gets Manning is instant contenders. I can guarentee you Peyton is more determined than he has ever been in his entire life. A year away from football probably made him realize his times running out, and he has to get another championship now.

I expect him to put up monster numbers wherever he lands. Another thing is, if the Dolphins do land him, I believe the Jets would be forced to draft Trent Richardson because without a run game, Brady and Manning will be on the field a ton.

Cosign, we cant let Manning go to Miami, even if it means we have to sign him. If Manning goes there, we arent touching the playoffs for the next 3 years at least.

I don't see why everyone is so quick to say Peyton will be the same when he comes back. We all understand that he is one of the best, if not the best QBs in NFL history, but he is coming off a very bad injury. I don't think his numbers will be any where near as good as they have been.

I don't believe that the Dolphins automatically get Peyton if we don't. The Redskins will definitely overpay for a QB if it means they can be relevant again and the Cardinals play in a dome. Every time I hear the word dome, Peyton comes to mind. Who is counting the Browns out? They are in a good position draft-wise, but if they could get a one-year Peyton rental, they could use the picks elsewhere to help their chances.

Peyton should just retire, he is already a legend. I don't want to see him in another uniform. I would respect him even more than I already do if he retires. He doesn't have to prove that he can beat this injury. What his games started streak? 216? If that's not tough, I don't know what is.

Ugh I can't wait till this guy is on another team so you all could just shut up already. Sanchez is our future, I'm going to back this kid until he's no longer on our roster.

I'm sick and tired of this non sense.

The only nonsense is having the word Sanchez and future in the same post.

Sure because that QB who just had 4 neck surgeries future is really looking bright. Get fucking real, your hate for Sanchez is made more obvious in each and every Sanchez thread.

Peytons fine, he rarely gets hit. Yesterday there was a video of him throwing Bombs at the Duke practice field. He looked good to me, and its still only March. Training Camp doesnt start till July. He will be 100% by then if he isnt already.

I believe a year off will revive some youth in him to. Im sorry we just cant let him go to the Dolphins period. It would be a complete nightmare, and to all the people that want him to go there so we can injure him need to get real. The guy never missed a game in his life till last year for a reason. He avoids hits.

So hes never missed a game. Until he had an injury bad enough to knock him out for a season and you're certain he will be 100% by July

    Strong logic
