Unless we are getting one of those QBs I'm not really sure what the end game would be trading up that high. Or maybe Kalil but I cant really see that as an option either
Honestly I'd be disapointed if Tanny didn't at least inquire even if he has no interest in moving up. Everybody assumes it would be to snag RGIII but why exclude Kalil? Honestly I think it's a bad move as we are more then just a RT away from winning a SB so I hope to God the FO doesn't think we are.
being interested and being capable are completely different.as much as tanny likes to move up the board he never uses future picks.so unless he includes revis harris and a night with brunells daughter i don't think he's got the ammo to do it
You dont trade to 2 for an OT. Especially in this draft. The only reason to go to #2 is for RGIII, otherwise you are giving colossal value for a prospect not worth it. To be fair RGIII might not be worth it either (I think he and Luck are going to be top QB's for a long long time) but if you're giving up that much, it better be for a QB. If you are wrong you're fired either way, but its doubly insane if its not for the QB. Oh I should clarify. This is fucking insane to even think about. It would cost us 2 #1's and Revis to even get in the conversation with what Washington is offering, which is apparently identical to what SD got for Eli Manning from the NYG 8 years ago. 2 1's a 3 and a 5 which escalated to a 4. Then we have to find a trading partner to deal Sanchez. Good luck with that after you just killed any chance of a reasonable deal by making the trade for RGIII.
I say we stay where we're at with our draft picks. I'm getting sick and tired of the fact that we keep drafting average QBs. And who knows, Robert Griffin might be average in the end, too. We need to fill a lot of holes, and mortgaging the farm to get one player who may or may not be a star is too much of a risk.
Why do we need to draft a QB? Not happening. Unless its the value pick in later rounds we wont be taking a QB this year, book it.
I can only see two real scenarios where the Jets might be able to trade up for the 2 pick to take RGIII and neither of them is likely to happen. 1. Brian Schottenheimer actually wants Mark Sanchez in St. Louis for some reason and has convinced Jeff Fisher and the Rams FO that acquiring Sanchez, the 16 and a few other choice picks, possibly including the Jets 2013 #1 is a good proposition. Given the Rams already have Bradford I think this scenario is extraordinarily unlikely to be in play. If anything Schotty is going to be all-in on getting Blackmon for Bradford as opposed to acquiring another QB to muddle the situation there. 2. The Jets have decided that Darrelle Revis will never have more value than he does this off-season and they're going to explore what that value might turn into in terms of a blockbuster deal. This one is likely going to go nowhere as well given the Rams would want Revis plus something really significant for the pick and the Jets are likely to want the pick plus something really significant for Revis.
For arguments sake let's say the jets were serous about trading up to the 2 pick. They are better off filling the needs.
best laugh of a long day thank you BAHAHAHHA. Rex slamming his balls into a car door...:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
If RG3 had those numbers while playing in the SEC, you would be crazy not to get him. Sanchez will improve this year and we have too many holes to fill on the roster to make this trade. Go JETS!!!!
I tend to agree but Rex did watch his defense go soft on several occasions last year and give up a game-clinching/winning score late. Even the ultimate optimist has to see the things happening right in front of him on his side of the ball when they're impacting the Jets chances to win. Darrelle Revis for all of his greatness is a cornerback. He can't put the team on his shoulders and carry them when things get tight and championships are won and lost. You need linebackers and defensive linemen and safeties to do that. Given the Jets history with Revis and the holdout I would be surprised if they aren't in almost constant evaluation mode of his value vs the rest of the NFL's talent. If they could get a great package for him they probably should get it before he holds out again and causes his value to drop precipitously. For all his greatness he's not Haloti Ngata or Terrell Suggs in terms of his impact on a great defense. He's definitely not Ed Reed in his prime. This is not because he's not great, it's because he's a cornerback who makes his living on the edge of the field far from the ball.
