Comparing Hill to Calvin johnson is just silly bad at this point. All your basing this off is height and speed. Its laughable.

Johnson is a much larger body than hill, who is tall, but very very lean. Johnson showed the ability to use his body and had elite hands. Hill's outstanding per catch numbers show that he's not doing anything short. The kid runs go routes. Thats it. He's extremely raw and is at least a year away from contributing much. Don't get caught up in the Al Davis mind set and watch some actual football the kids play.

I agree with you here. I really see him gone between 10 and 20.

He also put up 35 reps, hes having a good combine. Cant wait to see him run some positional drills

I think the obvious comparison for Hill is to Demaryious Thomas, who showed by the end of the season that he was ready to contribute the first year.

Its better by far. Thomas has the tools to be very good and is in an offense that lets him get a lot of one on one while playing off the line. Hill will need the same type of situation to do much of anything year one. He's not going to beat press or be affective running a full route tree. Let him run Go, Deep post and Drags all game untill the DB falls asleep and he can make a play.

So I’ve been on a bus all day (and wil continue to be) and couldnt get a glimpse of the combine today, does anyone have any notes/opinions on potential Jets? Im interested in the positional drills... It would be GREATLY appreciated if I could just get someone’s opinion on some of the players so far today or later on today

You're also forgetting who we have playing quarterback. Throwing the ball downfield accurately is something that Mark doesn't quite have in his repertoire.

I never mentioned the Jets at all, so why would Sanchez come into play? Just becasue your focus is solely on the Jets don't expect others to be.

That said, Mark has shown the ability to throw the deep ball well when given the chances in 2009 and 2010. The offense this year as a whole was shit so I'm waiting to see what the front offense does to fix it. Marks biggest weakness is boht accuracy underneath and seeing the shallow coverage. Intermediate and deep routes are his better throws.

A lot of you are catching the combine bug big time.

It's a good tool to answer some questions but many can test out of the gym, that doesn't mean their stock should rise so tremendously. When it comes down to things the tests arent making you a better player , it's how you play on the field. Don't fall in love with high numbers in drills that don't mean much for a position like a 40 time for a LB/DL or Bench Reps for a Wideout.

Vontaze is killing it at the combine.

And by it I mean his draft stock. I think he ran a 4.9 and 5.1 in the 40. He must not be in shape. Maybe he will fall to the 2nd?

Hah... Upshaw not running the 40... imo he was going to run over 4.80 and that's why he declined.

I think more than one team will have a DND mark on him. I'm not sure I'd want him on the Jets though... even in rd 3.

The Ingram bandwagon is filling up! if he's there i think he's the pick, the nfl and especially Rex loves versatility

The best thing about him today wasn't the 40 are any of those measurables... it was his lateral movement. I have never seen a guy built like him move so fast laterally!

His only problem is he has T-rex arms.... man those things are short.

yeah saw that; i mentioned his name in a trade down scenario but i have no idea what i was thinking......oh well.

if he continues this he will quickly be a day 2 after thought.

still think a slither down may be the best way to go here. lets see how FA starts.

I think his arm length isn't a huge factor and is being exagerrated. I mean compared to the average lbs or de a length, his are only about an inch shorter which isnt much really. Ingram won't have the great measurables like someone like Perry, but he can play football... He's very athletic in his own right, probably one of the most athletic players Attge combine. He was a point guard in hs- speaks about his agility and athleticism
