I know Conley had an up and down year, and yes he had awful moments, but he was an average punter.

38.8 net avg with 32 inside the 20.

    Weatherford's stats:

39.2 net avg with 24 inside the 20.

I mean outside of Lee and Morestead, most punters were within a few yards of each other. Hell, the great Shane Lechler finished with a 40.9 net avg and 27 inside the 20.

Yeah but net avg has a ton to do with the coverage of the players, the weather, etc.

I think with Punters you really gotta see them actually punt to judge, stats wont tell you pretty much anything.

That said I dont follow punters so im not in much of a position to judge, however I can say Conley definitely didnt look good.

I think most Jets fans would agree that Conley doesn't pass the eye test -- that is he doesn't boom it 60 yards in the air.

But guess who led the league in fair catches?

You see, I'm not a huge Conley supporter. In fact, in the beginning of the year I wanted him run out of town. But the fact remains that he isn't horrible.

His game is to punt it 40 yards but as high as he can, thus not allowing any returns.

Bottom line: Conley punted 92 times. Only 32 were returnable and teams averaged only 7.5 yards per return on those punts.
