You usually run more in the 4th quarter because you're ahead. I hate the old "when teams run ## plus times, they win 90% of the time" stat. You run more because you're winning, you don't necessarily win because you ran a lot. Greene is a nice thumper but he's not a game breaking back. He almost never breaks a long run and that's an indictment on him, not the o-line. Long runs are more of a factor of the back than the o-line. The o-line helps get the first chunk, then the back has to make it happen. If we had someone who can make people miss in the open field and rip off long, game changing runs more often it would make a huge impact for our offense. I wouldn't trade up for a RB (or anyone really), but if a game breaking back falls to us at 16 I'd almost certainly take them.
We’ve tried our luck with drafting RBs outside of the 1st two rounds the last 3 years and came up with no one even close to the names you have up there. Yes, teams have hit on RBs in the mid rounds, but the JETS havent. I wish they did, but they havent. And because they havent, the RB position is still a hole on a “ground and pound” team. Thank you. I dont get how anyone can say that we should pass up on a player that would be by far BPA. I think TRich would make the biggest impact Day 1 on this team- he would not only help in the run game, but also the check downs that we know Sanchez can love. I understand the argument against not trading up for him, and I can agree mostly, but if he’s there then you have to take him. It does kill to see other teams striking gold on 2nd, 3rd and even 4th rounders at the RB position, but just because they have, doesnt mean we will anytime soon. If we have a sure fire prospect then you have to take him- BTW, he’s only fumbled TWICE in his entire career including H.S. Imagine a RB that has the speed of Matt Forte and the power of Adrian Peterson, great hands, limited carries in college, good vision... Everything a “ground and pound” team desires.
I have seen mocks that have Richardson going in the top 5 picks, which seems unlikely but similarly it seems unlikely he will last close to #16 - if he did though then I would be happy to move up a spot or so to get him.
Then I hope he falls a few more spots. There are a handful of big WR's that are probably going in the 1st & 2nd rounds this year that could help our offense a lot. If he isn't off the board yet, it's almost certain none of them are either.
IF trent drops out of top 8 we need to draft up to 9 up 7 spots and grab him and here is why. i think we can move up 7 spots and still get upshaw i think we could trade our 1st and 3rd and next years 3rd to move up 7 spots or somthing close to that and then trade our 2nd and s.greene or mcknight since trent is a guy who is a 1 back total RB. with WR turner. to get upshaw who will fall to 20 we move up and get them both we will be awsome sign braylon and mario williams and a vet Gaurd and we will be fine with what we have
I THINK DEFENSE AND A RUNNING BACK WITH A OG and we are good HOlmes is still a threat resign braylon and we have keller with kurley what other wr options you need all 4 guys are already fimilar with sanchez
Who the fuck would trade a pick between 16-20 for Shonn Greene and a second round pick? This isnt Madden. Holy shit man.
Richardson could be the strongest guy in the draft he wasnt aloud to bench more then 505 at 220lbs thats amazing ok so hes strong in 957 carries hes fumbled 1 time.. and 2 in his carreer. ok so he doesnt drop the ball alot and has great hands to catch and an unbelivable pass protector and Fast the guys not quick but hes got brakeaway speed. something i wish greene had. hes stronger then greene faster then greene better hands then greene fumbles less then greene blocks better then greene younger then greene and has a much much higher potential then greene so it is safe to say its an upgrade to a team that needs an upgrade.
We would have to add in a 5th 2 7th round picks, calvin pace, and an ice-cream sandwich to pull that trade off
espn writer said greene value is around a 3rd round pick and it wasnt for the 1st round pick it was addition to 2nd 3rd and 2013 3rd with Greene to move up 26 spots
Trading up is stupid. The Jets cannot afford to do that. It's why the Jets have no depth now. When are you guys gonna learn? That's NOT the way to build a team. This isn't Madden.
We're going to have about 11 picks in this draft, if we make a trade swapping same rnd picks and giving up a 4th or later to do so I don't see the problem with it. It is pretty unrealistic to assume that if we keep all our picks they all make the team for "depth".
Given the grammar, punctuation and spelling, I think it might be possible this is an actual monkey banging on a keyboard.
While I agree that all will make it, the more draft picks you have, the greater the chances that you will find good players who can contribute. With that many picks, the Jets can significantly address (maybe not solve, but at least address) all of their holes. With 11 picks, they could draft 2 OLBS, 2 S, 2 WRs, and ILB, OT, a G, a RB and a P. The reason the Jets have no depth now is because of all of Tanny's trade ups. That's not how you build a roster.
