Oh god no.....amazing how money changes the perception of some. Dude threw a tantrum after the GMen won and trashed Rex Ryan for no real reason and now would embrace being a Jet LOL. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...cobs-would-be-interested-in-joining-the-jets/ (Apologies if this was posted somewhere in another thread)
Two more words: ZACH THOMAS. Although I don't think Brandon Jacobs is the kind of runner we need, we do love us some formerly good players at the end of their careers: Burress, Tomlinson, Thomas etc.
Normally a 30 year old running back is a bad idea. He is younger than LT and better than any RB we currently have. If the money is right I don't see what we have to lose by signing him. Look what Otis Anderson did for the Giants in 1992.
Back in November I started thinking Jacobs has a real good chance of going to the Jets in 2012. The incident with Rex Ryan was nothing.
He is not better than Shonn Greene LT is better at catching passes out of the backfield He runs straight up and takes a ton of hits That's taken its toll every year He hits the hole slowly I'd rather see what McKinght can do if used more extensively
we need a speed back. Not a guy that's gonna complain about Sanchez and runs laterally when he should be pounding it between the tackles.
Clearly he's bipolar. Or he realizes there's not exactly going to be a seller's market for a grumpy 30-year old RB who used to be a power guy and doesn't run with as much power as he did...so it's in his best interest to leave all doors open. If Jason Taylor could 'sell out' to play for us, so could Jacobs.
What a massive bulking 240 sagging flapping giant sack of pussy isn't exactly what you think this offense needs? But if we sign him he can lead the league in least yards after contact !
Greene will be a free agent after next year. I would probably let him walk instead of giving him a big contract based on what I have seen so far. I wouls still use McKnight on third downs. With LT gone, he would get more opportunities in passing situations. If he does well, maybe he would have a shot at being our starter. Jacobs would be an asset in goal line situations and has exceptional speed for a man of his size. Signing Jacobs on the cheap means we could potentially get something for Greene in a trade and don't have to use big dollars or a high draft pick on a replacement unless something great falls in our laps.
Greene has proven he can break some long runs, we need someone to take some carries from Greene to keep him fresh. Whether that's jacobs or someone else. I HATE jacobs and don't want him but we do need another RB.
