The NFL will most certainly dictate what the uniform looks like. Nike will not have free reign to do as they please.
Of course. I know that. Nike will supply the uniforms. They will design some, but the teams will have to approve those designs for any to take effect. My only issue here was whether or not the league will uphold the 5-year rule.
The jersey looks the same but the solid green helmet looks awful. I can't understand why anyone wants a change, I (biased I supposed) truly feel we have the nicest uniforms in the league, and the helmets are a big part of that too. If they change ill petition.
The current Jets unis are terrific. Very unique in style but clearly old-school I think they are very underrated unis and I'm glad the Jets fans realize that. I agree with the poster who said the Jets need to stick with green & white (no "Black for Black's Sake") That's why I think Soulfood's concept has a chance, if the Jets look to change the style.
The Jets should drop the green. It's only because of Leon Hess and the Hess logo. Green has nothing to do with the sky, flying, or going fast. All things Jets invokes.
The Jets are green and white because of Sonny Werblin- not Hess. Green and white were chosen in honor of Werblin's St. Patrick's Day birthday. If teams used colors appropriate for their nicknames, then the Lions, Eagles, Falcons, Bills, and a few others would need to change their colors.
i always thought the same thing about the colors, im just glad i read this before i came on tgg making it seem like i knew what i was talking about... and i also didnt realize that werblin was ousted by coowners in 68... the curse of sonny werblin. and here this whole time i thought joe namath sold his soul to the devil.
Topic should be "(Not) New Uniform Ideas" or something. I actually fell for it for a few seconds. Edit: Until I read the post and clicked the link I mean.
IIRC, Werblin was ousted BEFORE the season, so if he was cursing the team, the Jets, presumably, would not have won in '68 Joe Willie's pact w/the devil is still alive as a possibility:grin:
^^^ Wow super gay anyway here's a Seashawk creation I think uniforms will be something like this, most realistic I've seen
^ those are actually pretty sleek. the green of the alternate jersey is fugly, but its the green the Seahawks use. Its something that you wouldnt hate to see on NFL fields.
