Just curious to see what Jet fans think. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread that doesn't have to do with the Giants, Patriots, Sanchez, or Holmes. The offseason is a boring time so hopefully this will be a good change of pace.

I think the dolphins have alot of talent, but need the proper coaching and a quarterback. Everybody knows the dolphins will be in the market. Most likely they will end up with Matt Flynn or Peyton Manning. The dolphins also finished the season playing very well on offense and defense.

The Jets on the other hand finished very poorly, and everybody knows all of the issues that came out of it. That said, they were only 8-8 and still have one of the best defenses. Rex also proved the 2 years before that he can take a team deep into the playoffs.

So my question is, do you think the Dolphins can take 2nd place from the Jets? Which team do you think is more talented? Will it be a tight race or will the Dolphins or Jets flounder next year?

My opinion is that the Dolphins will bounce back and at least be in contention for a wildcard. I just think we have too much talent not to be. Maybe that's just my bias but we have a good young defense and good weapons on offense. Our Dline is one of the best in the league and our Oline is very close to becoming elite. We also need a right tackle desperately. I really don't know who was worse Columbo or Hunter.

Now can they overtake the Jets, I dont know. But i think we match up very well with you guys and I think it will be a close race for 2nd in the east. I honestly think we have more talent on our team that we just haven't been able to put together. Regardless of that, the Jets have been the better team, but I think we are closer than alot might think.

    What do you guys think?

of course they could, I don't think they will but they could. The dolphins have some talent especially on D. if they can get quality QB play for a full season they will be a playoff contender.

I think there D is going to take a big hit moving back to the 4-3 and changing coordinators. They may take a big jump on offense though if they get a QB. Isn't it pretty much a foregone conclusion they bring Flynn in?

I hope the Jets are playing for first place anyway. F second.

I think the Dolphins needs to be more worried about losing that #3 spot to the the Bills.

I hope they are playing for 1st, I hope the team has a sense of urgency all season after the way this one ended but NE is always going to win 12-14 games w/ Brady healthy so we have a lot of work to do.

    I agree with this.

If the Phins land Flynn, and he plays consistently throughout the year, Phins could easily win 10-11 games.

I liked their D last year and I think the switch to a 4-3 will have a minimal impact.

The fins have been drafting and building there team for a 3-4 for years. You don't think changing coordinators and scheme is going to have a big impact on the defense?

Apparently the Jets are going 0-16 next year, so yeah, Fins may get it done.

If, if, if. If David Tyree gets a little field paint on hits helmet, this kid is wearing a Giants shirt.

They have some pretty good athletes on defense, not one-dimensional players, so I think the switch should be pretty seamless.

Everybody thought last year that the Texans switch from a 4-3 to 3-4 would not work, but the players, especially Mario Williams, adapted very well and they went from last to a top 3 defense in the league.

Not sure which will be more difficult, going from a 4-3 to a 3-4 or vice versa.

Dansby won't have any trouble adjusting, the secondary wont be affected. Wildcard is Cam Wake and K Misi. The DL will have new roles. Hopefully they do jackshit.

I agree with the fact the Jets should be playing for first place, F second. With that said, anything can happen year to year in the NFL, let hope the patch things up and sweep the division!!!

    Go Gang Green!!!

I'm not sold on Flynn yet.

The Texans drafted really well on D and had a top DC in his first year- we'lls ee how the dolphins draft and they don't have a top DC.

Phins are just waiting until 2013 when Rex becomes available.

Then they will have a top DC.

That's true, but all a defensive switch is a change in philosophy and assignments.

I think the Phins have the athletic players on defense to do that.

    Time will tell.

I just really hope we compete, and I think we can. Of course it's unknown how the new coaching staff will do but I'm glad we got an offensive coach. Losing Mike Nolan will probably hurt us a bit. I see alot of talent but we gotta put it together.

Matt Moore played pretty good last year, but I dont think he's our future, nor do I want him to be. I think the front office is pretty set on getting a quarterback and it sounds like they are going to go after manning pretty aggresively. That could be a boom or bust type of move. I would take Flynn also, but I'm in no way sold by him. If we can get a quarterback (big if) I think we can hit 10 or 11 wins. If we end up sticking with Matt Moore which is doubtful, I think we'll be right around 8-8. Depending on the way the ball bounces that can turn into 6-10 or 10-6.

Mainly though, I just want us to compete. I'm sick of the season being over after 5 games. And I think with a quarterback and some good coaching we can definately make the playoffs.

The Jets on the other hand are kind of unknown to me. I feel like they could stumble and fall apart and be 6-10 like us last year. Especially if Sanchez doesn't progress and they don't get the lockerroom in order. If they get improved quarterback play and the team gels they could also end up 11-5 and make a run in the playoffs. I really don't have a feel for whats going to happen with them. If they didn't have rex I would say they have big problems because they have alot of holes on defense, but he's such a good coach that he really makes up for it.

I really think it will come down to the last few weeks with the Dolphins and Jets in a tight race for a wildcard spot. But if any team was to struggle, sadly it would likely be my dolphins.

He'll be BB's DC and they'll win the next 4 SBs until Brady retires
