I don't understand this. He flat out sucks. We needed the extra money instead of keeping this bum as a backup RT.
Very true, lets just hope that wording is flexible or maybe he goes out and gets hammered tonight and gets arrested then maybe we can release him free of charge.
Jets RT Wayne Hunter's $2.45 million base salary became guaranteed Wednesday because the team did not release him. The Jets seemed to protect themselves in Hunter's 2011 contract by writing in a loophole to get out of the deal if they released him on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of this week. It never happened. Hunter, 30, was a media whipping boy in his first season as a starter, and for good reason. Pro Football Focus graded Hunter as the fifth-worst offensive tackle in football. Considering his salary, Hunter figures to return as a starter in 2012.
The worst tackle in the NFL is back for a guaranteed contract. Good stuff. Although there is still time in the day, Maybe Tanny comes to his senses and cut's this guy before midnight.
That's exaclty how it is... Hunter is staying another year. I thought they'd at least ask him to restrucutre for a lower number. 2.5 to that turnstile is surprising!
2.5 million guaranteed means hes almost certainly a starter, and not a versatile backup. Guess it also means our cap situation is either far more dire than any of us ever could of imagined, or that this team already plans on spending that money elsewhere (ie Peyton )
I don't understand why some people/articles are referring to Wednesday as if it's already passed. Was there a 5PM clock on that too? It sounds to me like they have until the clock strikes midnight to cut this traffic cone.
I know what happened. Tanny was about to make the call to cut Hunter when Rex walked in to see if he had any M&M's in his office. They got to talking an Rex convinced Tanny that Hunter was one of the best RT's in the league and that he should have been in the probowl. Fuck.
Well it said it becomes "fully guaranteed today" not tomorrow. So my best interpretation is they had either until the clock strikes 11:59 yesterday or some designated time today. Eitherway it sounds like he is a sure fire lock to be our starting RT come September
We could either spend the money / draft choices necessary to protect our starting QB or we could do nothing and let every pass rusher in the league continue to have a field day against out sieve of an offensive line. We could still obtain a good tackle but our cap is tight enough without paying Hunter $2.5 mil to sit on the bench. If Hunter is on the roster, Tanny dropped the ball.
Mr. Ryan, how did you enjoy your pizza here at Pizza Villa? Well, Anthony, I think this was the best pizza I have eaten all year. I really believe that. The pepperoni measures up to any pepperoni I have had before, the sauce was very versatile, and I have had the crust here many times, and let me tell you, I would put that crust up against the crust of any pizza shop in town, and 9 times out of 10, we will win that pizza contest. I truly believe that.
Im telling ya theres only 3 reasons I can even fathom that a team would actually do this. 1) They think Hunter is underrated and they are getting an excellent "deal" on keeping him for 2.5million (this isnt even fractionally plausible) 2) Our cap situation is a complete shit storm far worse than all the projections out there leaving us completely completely strapped for cash, virtually unable to sign any FA at all. 3) Tanny does what Tanny does. Going all in on the biggest FA of the season and doing any and everything possible to ensure the Jets can be the highest bidder for Peyton Manning. To me I truly dont see anyway possible that theyre doing this other than to go all in on Peyton. Either that or Tanny makes his decisions with a magic 8 ball The ironic part is if we actually get Peyton, and Hunter is the starting RT. God that is gonna end ugly
