At the very least it should get a rise outta Sanchez. It just might be what the kid needs to get his shit together.
Youre thinking jonathon joseph. We traded for Cro the year before that tho, a 2nd rounder nonetheless
Cromartie was the 2nd choice to Aso, no shame in that. He was also a legit top 10 CB last year and outside of a few mishaps the first few games had a great year.
Oh, I think he would be plenty to get excited about. If you go over his career, he's had some rough spells that really are not his fault, like the fan mania for Tebow in Denver last season. Anyone would be adversely affected by that, and he ended up playing well in a totally new situation in KC, getting up to speed relatively quickly. He's clearly better than Sanchez, has discipline and a solid work ethic. He can make the throws. I wouldn't say he's top ten, of course, but mid pack? Yeah, he is at least that.
Eggzactlee. Either he outplays Mark and becomes the starter, or lights a fire under Sanchez. Plus the Jets need a real backup, anyway. No more Brunell. I think this issue of replacing Brunell is the single biggest issue the Jet FO faces this off season. More than RT, safety, #2 wideout. More than anything else.
Orton is going to want to go somewhere where he has a legit chance of being the starter and that will not be with the New York Jets. I do think we need to bring in a quality back up Qb and would love Orton in that role but like it or not Sanchez is entering the season as the starting QB, whether or not he finishes the season the starting B remains to be seen but you can bet your life he is entering the year as the unquestioned starter. Orton is most likely to stay right where he is and have an open competition with Cassell for the starting gig in KC.
Yep, it is my understanding that most rating systems place Cro in the top ten. Even Revis gave up some plays, so to focus on a handful of bad plays by Cro earlier in the season is unfair and uninformed. Cro is one of the better players on the team, no doubt about it. Depending on whether you hold Holmes's lack of production mostly on him or not, Cro ranks either the fifth or sixth best player on the team, at least.
i agree...cro is probably in the top 10 of jets players if not top 5. i am happy we didnt get aso as it would've hurt us this year in getting FA. we probably have the best CBs in the league and they're the least of my worries
Regarding the bolded part, and going back to my first post here on this subject, if the Jets were to give Orton a legitimate shot at being the starter, he almost certainly would win that, and would be. And if the Jet organization really believes that Sanchez should be the starting Qb next season no matter who else could be brought in, den manies ones a dem needs to be fi-urred.
Yep. I totally agree. As long as we are talking about STARTING cb's. They are great. The bench CB's? Not so much.
Would there be a market for Cromartie if the Jets wanted to acquire another pick(2nd) and free up space? Start Kyle Wilson.
I believe that defensive FA would be easier to sign thanks to Rex. Offensive FA would take some more effort, but we are still a very appealing franchise.
Most of the time. We don't need an overhaul anyway, we need a few things. I'd think most defensive players would at least look into playing for Rex, get the one or two guys we need to get a good D back to an elite D.
While I agree that 8-8 is not a record to turn off prospective free agents the media made such a big deal of this that I can see it turning some guys off. The media sold the perception very hard the last few weeks following the season of the Jets being in complete turmoil so I can see some players buying into that and passing on us. It's always about the money but last year I would have said even money is it jets or the 31 other teams we would have beat out probably 25 +. This year I think we would be more middle of the pack.
What do we need and where do we get it is part of the question. Safety and another LB on D and maybe 2 safties. We need a guard, a RT a TE and another WR on the O. An FA WR probably will want a ton of up front money to come here unless they are damaged goods. Stats matter for WR and TE's in their ability to earn. I think we probably are an attractive club for a safety and LB and OL. Particularly if we are going to run the ball hard. If we are we better get a running back who can stay on the field. We probably need to fill the skill offensive players in the draft. Can't see them coming here so quick. The other guys yes.
I really hate you, you are defiantly the guy who sits around and argues that the sky is purple. Any point anyone makes about the Jets you just love to disagree with. Harris, Cromartie, Ferguson and Holmes are all above average talent, the latter two having a poor year last season.
two types of players -- those looking for the biggest paycheck no matter where or those looking for a a nice paycheck and the right situation. For many playing in NY is the right situation. A defensive minded coach, a team that like to spend, and a team that above all else wants to be in a position to win not just compete. Players talk so if players speak highly of the Jets and not want the media tells us they will get some good signings.
