He's a cheap 4th/5th WR option that can play special teams. He improved as the year went on, but still wasn't good enough. Sanchez started to target him more and more on key 2nd and 3rd downs down the stretch and most ended up incompletions.

Still, I don't mind him as long as he stays in the bottom 40% of our WRs.

    Figure:

    1. Santonio
    2. UFA? Braylon?
    3. Kerley
    4. Turner
    5. Payne? Draft pick?

Probably that's how it will shape up. I think Turner, Payne and a low rd draft pick or two will battle it out for #4 and #5 on the depth chart.

I like what Turner brings to the table.
I can see him being a red zone factor. Didn't he catch TD after replacing Holmes?

I think (not sure this is off the top of my head) he had some good catches in the Gay Shark game week 17. But he could be good if he is covered by a linebacker or a teams 4th cornerback especially cause he's played with Mark in college and the pros. Need consistency. If he is the 4 Mark will be in his second year with Kerley his 3rd with Holmes and his 4th with Keller. If we got Braylon back that would be another receiver in his 3rd season with Mark. Need consistency for Mark.

He did improve over the season. I like his size, but he really shouldn't be more than a #4 / situational guy.

    He's alright as a situational 4th.

He actually played pretty good coming off the p-squad. Now that he'll be on the team, in meeting, on the practice field getting reps and game snaps I think he will significantly better come this time next year.

Meh. At this point a few years ago going into the season we had:

    1. Jerricho Cotchery
    2. Chansi Stuckey
    3. Brad Smith
    4. David Clowney
    5. Wallace Wright

I'd take the current group over that one.

Sanchez did look comfortable down the stretch throwing towards Turner, who made the catches.

Glad he is re-signed, but don't want to see him lined up at #2, even #3.

    I liked him last season.

I'd like to draft Nick Toon, though.

I would too from the whole nastalgia, father link thing, but I don't think he's the deep threat we are looking for. If we aren't getting a pass rusher in the first, I am hoping the FO targets a big threat WR.

We desperately need a "Calvin Johnson" since Plax is obviously not coming back.

Calvin Johnson was like the #1 pick in the draft. We'll be lucky to get a serviceable 4th receiver out of the draft this season given most WR's take a year to get their feet on the ground and then another year to get up to ok.

This progression has to stop though:

    2009 - Cotchery/Stuckey/Smith, oops, Cotchery/Edwards/Smith
    2010 - Edwards/Cotchery/Smith, oops, Holmes/Edwards/Cotchery
    2011 - Holmes/Plaxico/Mason, oops, Holmes/Plaxico/Kerley

If this stuff doesn't stop the Jets have no hope of developing Sanchez and he'll either turn into David Carr for us or Jim Plunkett for somebody else.
