    :rofl::rofl:

But yeah, he'd suck for us. Tom Brady makes Wes Welker, if he had Sanchez throwing to him he'd be a scrub. The guy is a glorified slot receiver at best with the best QB in 15 years throwing to him.

I disagree. We only have 15 free agents (at least according to this source: http://www.theredzone.org/showteam.aspx?team=Patriots), and Welker is the only one who is likely to command a big contract. We have a lot of cap room as well.

Connolly, Lawfirm, Carter, Koppen, Love, and Slater should all be coming back, but none of them are going to be particularly expensive. I'd like to see Branch back as well, but only if he comes cheap.

Welker is easily our #1 priority in terms of our own free agents. He is also worth a lot more to us than he is for any other team. He also recently said he plans to be back (http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story...ker-says-plans-returning-new-england-patriots).

Oh, and he would be a terrible fit for the Jets.

Welker is an undersized receiver that lives his live in the most dangerous part of the field, already has a surgically reconstructed knee, and his effectiveness is based on sharp cuts and bursts of explosive quickness. His odds of longevity are not very good.

Some team is going to throw a shit ton of money at Welker. I dont see him playing in New England next year,

They also got to resign Arrington who also had a probowl year, they got many people to sign but not enough money.

System, system, system ... look at that clown Deion Branch when he was in Seattle. The only reason Branch is still in the NFL is because of Brady. Fuck Welker, let somebody else throw money at a system guy.

We could just draft our own good players and then run plays that put them in a position to succeed.

    Nah. Never mind.

    No way

Welker and Rex actually made up after that "foot" comment. Read Rex's book, there's a chapter all about it, and it's funny as hell.

Now, I've wanted Welker on the Jets for years, but now is not the time. He has had past injuries, is over 30 and we have two similar receivers on the roster. The best way to develop a threat at receiver is to draft one. Kerley has loads of potential, and Tone can be just as much a playmaker as Welker when he wants to and when he has a quarterback. Welker is the wrong type of receiver for the Jets, they need a tall, deep threat with speed.

Not sure why you would downplay a first-hand account of something that happened. As fans, people usually base their understanding of things based on third-hand accounts provided by journalists, 30 second interviews and 10 second segments of network footage. Rex's book is enlightening about what happens with the team and the NFL in general if you can get past the Aw-Shucks hokey overtones.

    ahem...Hall of Famer Curtis martin.

Ummm...Rebuilder of the Franchise Bill Parcells.

What we should do, is rip off the way they USE Welker and adapt that for McKnight and Jeremy Kerley. Two guys with similar abilites and superior speed.

One of the biggest knocks, from me, on Schotty was his inability to look at his players and find things that other offenses do well with similar players....

(Or Leon Washington, and Westbrook from the Iggles)

They say the NFL is a copycat league, but it always looked to me that aside from using the Wildcat, Schotty never got that for individual players.

    I'm not downplaying anything.

Jets coaches write very entertaining books.

And Joe McKnight was allegedly the best wideout at USC the DAY he walked on the field.

Did everyone just skip over this post where somebody actually claims Jeremy Kerley is better than Wes Welker?

    Amazing.

Why? rex is keeping a receiver that literally sabotaged our season. A guy that quit on us during a game. He laso did not want to return punts and he did not even bother to pick the ball up the year before last. Welker comes to play and brings his lunch pail with him. I'd rather get Braylon but IMO keeping a cancer in the clubhouse is not an option with a young team and rex has got to wake up.
