I tend to think it's more the other way around. I think Belichek made Brady what he is. Not to say Brady isn't a good QB. He clearly is (even though he cries more than 6 year old girl with a skinned knee). But look at what Belichek did with Matt Cassell when Brady blew out his knee. They went 11-5 that year. My point is, it seems that Belichek has found a formula that works in New England, and Brady has benefitted from it. I often wonder what kind of QB Brady would be on another team. I think Cassell shows us a glimpse of that. Now, I also do agree that Belichek is somewhat overrated. What he is good at is exploiting matchups and putting his players into positions that maximize their skills. In short, he's great at adjusting, analyzing the other team's weaknesses, and taking what the other team is giving. So often you hear, "we're going to play OUR game..." but what Belichek does is play the game that can get his team the win. However, his success has made him arrogant. So, occassionally he will make some odd decisions and underestimate his opponents.
Why would I "pretend" to be a Bills fan? Nobody "pretends" to be a Bills fan on another team's MB; it makes you an easy target. I admire both Belichick and Brady because they don't talk about what they're going to do, they go out and do it. So do Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning. Ryan flaps his traps and produces nothing. At least Sanchez keeps his mouth shut.
As Jets fans we have to realize we get screwed because whether we like it or not BB is a top 3 coach of all time and Brady is a top 3 qb
What do Brady and Belichick do other than lose when theyre not cheating ? They have never legitimately won a superbowl, and the only reason they even won a playoff game this year was because they had to play Tim Fucking Tebow, and a completely inept impotent Ravens franchise. Brady and Belicheat are nothing but bitches.
I think this is an excellent analysis. IMO, the biggest culprit in last night's loss was the Pats' defense. It was just not good enough while the Gants' D stood up when it counted. I think, in this case, it's less a case of Coughlin out-coaching Belichick as the Pats not having the D and not being able to run their 2 TE offense.
I'm not sure how both of these things can be true. If Brady is really a product of a system that Belichek created, Belichek may actually be underrated.
Why can't they both be true? Brady is only one guy on one side of the ball. He's not the whole team. Belichek being overrated, in my opinion, has to do with his arrogance. He seems to believe that he can win without a defense, which, I think this game showed us is very difficult.
Thanks man. I agree. The Pats lack of D and inability to feed Gronkowski the ball 20 times really hurt them. While the Pats have had success with their system (ie, No real defense, TE cetered offense), I don't think it's a sustainable model. Right now they are one key injury to Brady or Gronk from being the 2011 Colts. They just don't have the depth and they seem to have all their eggs in one basket. This is different from the teams they've won with in the past, where the team was built on solid roll players on both sides of the ball.
if Tom brady was our qb we would have won 3 or more SB. BB is suppose to be a d genius? What has his d ranked the past 4 years? That d couldn't stop the giants from going 90 yards agains Them to get the victory
At That point he has to call a challenge! He's hoping that some thing will show up in the re-play that could potentially change the call. That was the right call and his call for a challenge was the right call also.
I don't think so..maybe he had the best QB but Lombardi, Schula, Paul Brown, Landry, Gibbs, Noll and Walsh were all better coaches, at least I think so and without Brady Bellishit might have been out of coaching years ago. Oh, and Parcells too.
You what pains me? The new York jets are the reason Bill Bela-cheat Has had the successful run he has had with the patriots! I'll say it again........Bledsoe just got his crazy 100 million plus deal and Brady would have never seen the field if the Jets didn't Injure Bledsoe. Now I will say that the quarter back is the one who executes the offense and can make or break the coach. In this case Brady made Bill the success he is now and probably put him in the hall of fame.
Seriously dude, you need to learn something about this game. How about we start with Chuck Noll, Tom Landry, Don Shula, Bill Walsh, Vince Lombardi, Joe Gibbs, and lastly, Bill Belichick? Yeah, he fooled everyone when he tricked us all into thinking he could go to the Super Bowl with that defense.
QFT. Parcells has never had much success as a HC without Belichick running his defense. Belichick has had success on his own.
I dunno ... Belichick maybe. Besides his SB wins, he's won the AFCE every year except 2002 and 2008, and had his teams in the playoffs every year since 2001. He's lost more SB than Parcells ever coached in, and he was Parcells' DC when Parcells took teams to the SB. Coughlin has won 2 SBs in the last 4 years. Since 2004, he's had the Gnats in the playoffs 5 times in 8 years, including winning the NFC East 3 times. Before that, he had TB in the playoffs within a couple of years after they came into the league as an expansion team. I sure won't get into some of the greats from earlier decades in the post-merger era: Bill Walsh, Chuck Knoll, Tom Landry, John Madden, all multiple Super Bowl winning coaches. Knoll won 4 with the Steelers in the 1970s.
I'm kind of iffy on whether Parcells even is HoF worthy. Career wise, I think he's kinda on par with Shanahan but I'd even give Shanny the nod over Parcells.
