Congrats to Curtis Martin!!! He's one of the classiest guys ever to wear the Jets uniform. At least Curtis still makes us proud! Well done, sir!
Probably nitpicking but my point about Ward is that he would retire with over receving 90TDs (assuming he gets at least 3-4 more next year) puttin him in the top 10 all time at the point of his retirement. As far as Ward in the hall of fame he is an excellent blocker, has Superbowl rings, has the stats (85 TDs - T 13th all time, 12,083 yards - 18th all time, 1,000 receptions 8th all time). He is also a Steeler and they tend to get preference from the voters although it could count against him since so many Steelers are in already. With another year to pad his stats and another shot at adding a superbowl ring or appearance he probably deserves to get in eventually although he may be one of those guys that just doesn't get in to the chagrin of Steelers fans. With the level of competition I just don't see him getting in any time soon and I think first ballot just isn't going to happen. It is easy to forget some of his accomplishments because he is over the hill and they happened earlier in his career. He is a four time pro bowler, Superbowl MVP, 3 time Steelers MVP, and made two consecutive all NFL teams. Despite his stats he is known mostly for his blocking and good hands. Negatives include a DUI arrest (2009) and a reputation as one of NFL's dirtiest players.
A well deserved accolade for a great player and person. I'd love for him to own the Jets one day. For Parcells, his love of the game is probably what caused voters to hedge their bets on whether he will remain out of football.
Congrats #28. It was a pleasure watching you play for the Green and White! I hope to be in Canton this year to see you enter the Hall!
Ward will be Hall-worthy like Reed and Carter and Brown. This means he merits serious Hall consideration. He likely will get in someday but I don't consider him a gamebreaker. He was not an extra special receiver like Warfield or Maynard or Moss or Rice, etc.
Are you clueless or something? I just said earlier that an inducted player DOESN'T go in under any particular team. He goes in as an NFL Player in general. So in essence, he's going in as both a Jets player and a Patriots Player even though it's not official. 3 years with New England; 8 years with the Jets.
We would all die laughing. I remember years ago when 71,856 Redskins fans dropped dead the day John Riggins went into the PFHoF as a Jet.
Well I'd certainly love to learn the magic trick making someone disappear.....and use it on you. geez...
Curtis is my favorite Jet of all time. This is a well deserved honor. I will be there for his induction for sure. Congrats to the classiest, hardest workin Jet of all time.
Congrats to Curtis, it is a well deserved honor. he's the best RB in Jets history and might be the best player in jets history.
