curtis martin is EXACTLY the type of guy that deserves to be in the hall of fame and deserves to be lauded over for years to come. he was a lunch pail guy who came and carried the ball hard every time he got it. he never complained about it or asked for someone else to carry the load. he just ran for 1000 yards every year over and over again. ill take that any day of the week all day. one of my favorite jets, favorite players and to me a true hall of famer. and knowing his history and where he came from makes his story that much more special.
I am stunned by it. Obviously there are some electors who Parcells rubbed the wrong way through the years.
i must be missing something, because when I checked ESPN, Martin was the headliner of the class, with a picture of him decked out in green and white...
congrats to curtis one of my alltime favorites and one of the best to ever suit up for the green and white. I remember it like it was yesterday as a kid when i heard he got traded from new england to the jets i ran down to my neighbors house all excited to tell my friends who were all hangin around on their front stoop
I thought Butler should have been in the PFHOF long ago. I felt he had a much stronger candidacy than Dick Stanfel. In my opinion, Butler was the best pre-1960 player who was not yet in the HOF. Half this class has Pittsburgh ties. Doleman and Martin went to Pitt and Butler went to St. Bonaventure. Not at all. I already ordered a ticket. With Murrell2878 going (and possibly more from this board), we can have some sort of TGG tailgate. Young Cakes will also be there, but he won't attend the ceremony. Martin is my favorite NFL player of all-time. It is great he doesn't have to wait any longer. I hated Martin when he played for NE solely because he was great and played for a rival. He was probably my least favorite player in the league after Dan Marino. That all changed instantly when I first learned of the Jets trying to acquire him. I found it out while using a library computer at West Virginia University. Later that night I took Martin off the NE roster and added him to the Jets roster in Madden. A week later, Martin officially became a Jet. Ahh, the days when I used to play Madden.
Only by some folks around here. He got passed over last year too. Parcells had a tendency to cut and run on teams but the thing that probably keeps him out is the comical string of retirements which currently sits at #4. I'm betting there are a lot of guys with votes who want to be sure he's really retired. And some in that group might even think he wants to come back again as soon as he gets in the Hall. My own opinion is that the guy is a self-important narcissistic buttwipe ...and that opinion may be shared by some Hall of Fame voters.
can we ban the obvious trolls? Jesus fucking christ. CURTIS! This is a fucking great day boys.
