Former Dolphins OC Brian Daboll hired as Chiefs O.C. Tony Sparano wanted to bring him to #Jets as QB/passing gm coach.

Are we going to stick with Cavanaugh or try and bring someone else in? No Haley, no Daboll... seems like Sparano would really like to have his own guy coaching the passing game and the QBs, but is anyone interesting on the market? Does Cavanugh have any experience in the offensive scheme we want to run?

I thought Cavanaugh was fired? It's obvious coaches around the league want to bring guys they're familiar with onto their staff. Nothing to really see here.

Haley is still more than available

I think if he is unable to find an OC job (Which this steelers one looks unliekly)

He might end up joining up with Sparano to save face and say something like "Joining up with Sparano was my plan all along"

I know it's not a strange phenomenon... I'm just curious as to what options the Jets have. Bring in someone less known who has worked in the system Sparano uses? Try to make it work with Cavanugh?

Anyways Cavanugh hasn't been fired... he's still the QB coach. For now...

Cavanaugh has to go. Sanchez hasn't developed the way the franchise wants him too. You change the QB coach in that situation.

You know what's ironic? As a player he only had a 52.7 completion pctg and only went over 60% 2 times... with an overall 28-30 TD-INT ratio.

What good is a QB coach when we dont have reliable WR's to throw at?

    SOJ fan in this era.

Get rid of Cavanaugh, He's a buster.

I still think there's a chance Haley comes here if he can't get a decent OC position which looks like he probably wont.

Cavanaugh is hot garbage. Dude has done absolutely nothing for the development of Sanchez and he's let him get some bad habits.

Apparently, there was only a select few that didn't like Cavanaugh before we cleared house, as if I remember correctly he was an opposing force to Schotty or at least was one to reluctantly follow his lead so people didn't hate him as much.

Got the Giants & Pats to the big game...didn't it?

As much as I would love to see us ram the ball down our opponents throats, we need a passing game. Today's rules just make it too easy. Plus our defense is no longer as good as it was just recently. Balance would be nice.

We're fucked unless Sancho can improve significantly. If he's not tossing behind his rcvr's, he's fumbling the ball away.

If you're gonna fire the offensive coordinator because the QB hasn't developed well enough, then how does it make sense to keep the quarterback coach?

Sparano should be able to pick his own offensive staff. If he wants to keep Cavanaugh, fine, but I can't see what he's done to deserve to keep his job.

I'm not so sure Cavanaugh is so bad as it is the talent he is working with.

yeah someone has to be the whipping boy. the guy who everyone blames everything on. schotty was that the past 2 or 3 years. really probably longer than that but the last 3 years it got really bad, this year it was amazing how much people hated him.

back a few years ago it was ted cottrell, then they got rid of him and it was hackett... then bob sutton... its a never ending line of fall guys.

Cavanaugh is a Rex Ryan hire. He probably stays at least a year to provide Sanchez some continuity into Sparano's system.

My biggest problem with Cavanaugh is that, since he IS a Ryan guy, he should have been the guy telling Ryan what was happening in the locker room in 2011. Which either means he had a major part in Schotty getting canned for his own gain, or that Ryan knew what was happening in the locker room the whole time.

Bringing him here was likely a mistake in the first place.

He coached up the legendary Trent Dilfer which earned him so much fame and recognition that he was hired by the mighty pittsburgh panthers that Rex had to steal him from
