Giants outcome is all about PR for the Jets. If they win its a nightmare. If they lose, they have to shut up too Pats outcome may have a direct effect on W-L for the Jets If Pats win, do they springboard to another streak or are they primed for a let down, thus opening up the AFC East top slot? If Pats lose, do they follow the path of recent SB losers? ( very low level of success...many don't even make play-offs... in the next season)
Even if they lose tomorrow, the Pats easily win the AFCE, and make the playoffs, over the next 5 or 6 years.
If the Pats win tomorrow, it means they have obviously found a new way to cheat which has yet to be detected. And, they'll continue to milk that until they get caught again. So, that would probably be bad for the Jets. If the Giants win, it means that - despite their best efforts - the Patriots haven't found a new way to cheat effectively, and Bellichick might just throw his hands up in frustration and quit. That would probably be good for the Jets.
Just look over the last 10 years. Pats always win the AFCE and go to the playoffs. Nothing will change over the next 5 or 6 years either.

So let me understand this... Giants go to the SuperBowl and if they lose they have to shut up. The Jets go to two AFCCGs and lose, follow up with an 8-8 non-playoff season, and it's okay that they bring those two CG losses up as proof of their relevance repeatedly. Some of you have to see the double-standard. Even with a loss, the Giants appear to come out of this with some tangible benefits. There will be one more banner hanging in the stadium. There will be one more trophy on display. They'll come out of this season with what is arguably the best defensive line in the NFL. And in the non-tangible benefits department, during every game they play next year, the announcers in every medium will refer to them over and over as the NFC league champions. A loss in the SB would absolutely disappoint every player on the team, but there will be some reminders of a great season forever.
The point of this thread, which everyone else seems to get, is what team winning is best for the Jets. I don't know if you live in NY, but for 2 years Giants fans have been screaming that back-to-back AFCCG losses don't mean anything. Now, a loss by the Giants puts them in the position of having to argue that a SB loss trumps two AFCCG losses (which is a stupid argument to make ) or just shut up about it. Either way is a positive for the Jets (who, BTW, should stop talking about the CG losses, which would also be a positive step for them as well) A Giants win is a PR disaster for the Jets. A Giants loss, not so much
i'm rooting for both to fail but anyone watching Trent DIlfer roasting Brady's game on ESPN2? Brady has a 28 completion % on passes more than 21 yard this year. that's WORSE than Tim tebow just shows how having great teammates can mask your deficiencies, I shudder to think how mark would do with Brady's squad
After a lot of thought, i'd rather deal with Giants fans and media calling Coughlin and this team the best of all time than another Pats win. Super Bowl losers have a stacked deck. And the Giants simply are inconsistent, so not exactly a huge back to back threat.
I do live in NY. I grew up in Brooklyn and now live on Long Island. And yes, I've heard the arguments from non-Jets fans that back-to-back AFCCG losses don't mean anything. But those arguments are always countered by Jets fans who say they are absolutely significant. In the short time I've been on this board, it's come up quite often and the consensus here seems to be that those games were and are, in fact, significant (I disagree with that) ...some argue that they're significant even today. I agree with you when you say Jets fans should drop the argument. But I have to take issue with how you're framing the coming argument should the Giants lose. It's not does "a SB loss trumps two AFCCG losses?" The argument is whether a League Championship win trumps two League Championship losses.
