I think that given the emphatic denials -- ON THE RECORD -- by numerous Jets (including Dustin Keller today), that Manish Mehta should go back to the 'unnamed sources' who said that Mark Sanchez was lazy and didn't work hard. He should read him the quotes from the coaches/owner and also the players who went on the record. Then he should ask those persons to agree or disagree, say why they are right and the guys who gave their names are wrong, and finally, once again ask if they will go on-record. Man-up or STFU to the anonymous complainers. As for Mehta, on a story that generates this much press and heat, he owes it to do a follow-up. I may even contact him to do such.
Don't disagree, on the record or off, let's see them talk again. Inquiring minds want to know !!! I bet they hang up on him or say "NO COMMENT." What are they gonna say....they have Sanchez' punch-card showing him coming in at 11 AM and leaving at 2 PM ?? They were lying SOS's for doing this. That's why they both must be canned.
At this point it's so obvious Plax was DEFINITELY one. and I also do think Holmes might've said some things.
that or the truth lies somewhere in between.... which is pretty typical in any he said she said debates. i really hate to see people all over manish as he is one of the few jets beat writers who are actually decent. but god forbid you talk bad about the chosen sanchez
I think the mehta firestorm really knocked him off the pedestal that Jets fans had him on over Cimini and other clowns pandering to the ESPN's of the world... Now he's just another talking head out for another story...
im going to really try not to see him that way. i guarantee someone said it, i hate to see him use the old unnamed sources but sometimes its necessary, i do think he should have done a little more research before putting the article out there for people to read. people just dont like to hear anything negative about the jets from teh beat writers... manish has been very good so far and hey we all fuck up now and again. im willing to give him another shot before i say he is cimini like.
I still have my doubts. The quotes were too well formed. They didn't come off like some had spoken them. More like they were written I think Metha culled together a bunch of things he heard, tidied up the language and pawned it off as "anonymous" quotes
Not when 1 side is 'anonymous' and the other side is on the record and EMPHATIC that the story is wrong. They didn't say that Mark works hard and puts in his hours....they all said he was Top 5 if you ranked the 53 players in terms of time at the facility. Keller said he was 1st or 2nd, Mangold said he was right up there. The quotes make it seem we had a white Jamarcus Russell on our hands !!! All the Jet beat writers are good. They all give us good information. You guys who grew up in the internet and 24/7 cable don't know what it was like in the 1970's.
That's fraud and journalistic violations of ethics, and I think the other Jets would have called him out on it. Don't go there, please.
Not sure if serious. Or maybe you were just being sarcastic... But regardless, If mehta said that a "few" said what he wrote, it wouldn't have the same impact than if he said "many". His utilization of the plural form of "anonymous sources"(sources being in plural form) is very broad in determining the number of "sources" being used.
Honestly who cares! Its apparent that Players in the Locker room; who would be more knowledgeable about what goes on behind those closed doors have the opinion that Sanchez is Lazy! Probably because he has no challengers or competition to push him . That's going to change and we will more then likely see an improved team next year. The Ah ha moment for me was remembering that Dolphins game and every time he had to come out of that makeshift shad they set up he had the look on his face that said Do I have to go out there again.
1. I think a lot of Jets did call him on it 2. You really believe there are ethics in the current state of journalism today?
LT was one of the "well-respected" Jets i'm guessing. doesn't really matter. this doesn't amount to much in the long run
I think sports journalists, esp. for the major dailies, are very responsible. The political guys is another matter. If the quotes weren't legit, I think other Jets would have called Manish out on it or told him directly. The fact is, other Jets KNEW such sentiments existed.
