Its friggin insane Jil...insane. You hit in on the head...like Herm Edwards taking a knee followed by a field goal wide left when a storm misses or disappears. Its truly like following a game when a model comes out. The increments between model shots, which are 6 hours..takes about 5 minutes. So when you are following something that is 6 days away..do the math. And when the storm starts to do something bad...its hysterical.
Not really temp wise Type. Precip wise yes. If you remember the last couple winters...we had a ton of snow and ice..but the summer were still warm...but still..wet.
Maine got screwed that past couple winters while we had a lot of snow right? Storms didnt make it north. This winter has been horrible for you guys too? I mean a lack of snow.
And the models all continue to show a potential bomb on or around the 12th. Colleen...Maine gets a bomb of a storm..over 2 feet. My prediction is simple..if the storm is still on the models on Super Bowl day...then we might have something cooking.
Yeah it has sucked this year. All our storms that would usually have been a ton of snow have ended up being freezing rain/slush storms. And the couple times it did snow a significant amount, it rained within a couple days and washed it all away. Our plow guy plows all the snow into a huge pile that the kids used to love to sled on, and they were able to do that ONCE last year, and not at all yet this year. Pile used to be there all winter long.
Used to go down to Wollmans Rink in Central Park every friday nite when I was a kid for the last session. We all had racing skates and used to fly around the rink scaring the shit outta slow skaters. At the end of the session, we'd all line up at the farside of the rink and race accross. Ah, the good old days of winter.. Tried my hand as skiing but never learned how to stop. Figured that was a deal breaker right there..
What scares me most about this mild winter is that the water temps never got really low enough to freeze over. That might throw the spring spawning season off for us fishermen. I need water temps at or near 65deg. Looking like last week in April, or first week in May. That's my plan A. Still working on plan B.
'ey weatherman, what do you know about barometric pressure causing people with arthritis and other things to have bad pain days? is there any real link?
Hey Mike how about this winter we're having in Vegas? We've had like 2 weeks in a row of temps in the 60's. Was 71 yesterday and temps should be in the 60's for at least another week.
ask and you shall receive RN: http://arthritis.about.com/od/weath...rometric_Pressure_Affect_Humidity_Climate.htm http://www.ehow.com/facts_5619355_barometric-pressure-arthritis-pain.html http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=14686
No shit? Thanks. I was accusing someone of BSing because of how nice the weather has been but the pressure's still up there between 27 and 30.00 so no wonder.
You know cman..never thought of that...great point. We have a small lake by my house that ALWAYS freezes over at some point..and that has never happened. Yep....the 65 degree key. Here its usually around the first week in May.
I just have a gut..and its simply a gut feeling, that March will have a very interesting storm. Jet streams rise and fall with the seasons. That Halloween storm really seemed to turn everything upside down..and I just get the feeling that once the Jet streams starts to transfer to spring mode, a weird 24 hour setup will take place and everyone will throw out the cliche "you didnt think we would get luck all winter did you?" Just a hunch.
Look at the cocky bastard quoting himself...this was from October 31. Every so often you get lucky....although reading that again i totally covered all the bases.
No problem bud..yeah..there seems to really be something to it. I have always heard that a lot but like you...called bullshit. Maybe not.
HAHA, if we had a snowy winter you could have bolded the first part of your statment and claimed accuracy
alright jay what the hell is going on around the 11-12th for snow. there seems to be some fluff over there at accuweather about this time period.
I got a fishing trip set up for the 1st week in May. Heading to Truman Res. in Warsaw, Mo. for the Crappie spawn. Probably will fish Lake of the Ozarks while I'm there as well so I will be watching closely just how quickly things warm up this spring.
