The averages include blitzes and non blitzes. It is fair to conclude that Sanchez is just as awful when being pressured on a blitz vs. being pressured on a non blitz. When a defense smells blood and they know a QB cannot hurt them they will come after him with no mercy. Until Sanchez can get better under pressure he will have a big target on his back to defense. Because they know they know he panics under pressure, makes mistakes and has no answer.

These stats back up what Terell Suggs said saying Sanchez is soft and gives up on plays when presured.

Why is that fair to conclude? It's not. I'm pretty sure those stats are available somewhere because we always hear them dropped in games. I'm not saying it's incorrect that he's bad vs the blitz, I'm saying these stats do nothing to support that.

Teams may have blitzed us less because they just didn't need to. You don't know based on the data provided.

Carr would trade his pinky toes to have only been sacked 40 times each of his first four seasons.

Thats why I cant take most of you seriously when you talk about wanting to win and then defend Sanchez.

I am not an extremist, I am a realist. And this team cannot win with Sanchez. So everyone who wants to defend him better shut the fuck up about wanting to end a 43 year drought and win a SB. Because it wont happen with our loser qb.

And dont give me this shit about qb being just a player in a team sport. A qb is the most valuable player in any team sport. A great one can elevate the play of a whole team. A bad one can drag down a great team. No position is even close in terms of value.

So, for all of you who want to win, and defend Sanchez in any way, shape or form, you need to make up your mind. You either want to win, or you want to suck Sanchez's dick at the expense of winning. The 2 cannot co-exist.

You seem to be trying to justify your crusade of irrational thought by bringing up vague examples what "some people" and "some guys" and "one guy" and "some Sanchologists" have supposedly said concerning Sanchez. You are intimating that this is your inspiration for the way you are behaving.

Surely you can provide us some examples of these opinions that have inspired you so fervently?

Gee, I wonder why he had happy feet? Probably has nothing to do with the fact he was getting drilled since week 3.

Haha this is brilliant. So Sanchez is the reason hunter sucks, the reason mangold got hurt, and the reason brick had a bad year. We might as well blame him for the WRs Not getting any separation. I also think we should blame him for global warming, and 6 more weeks of winter because of that fucking groundhog.

How about a siesta afterward? That game was like working in the field all day, after an entire week out mowing lawns. Maybe Sanchez had gas from all of those Mexican jumping beans he ate.

Maybe he couldn't fit his hands in his hand-warmer because of that bottle of tequila hidden in there. Or maybe he was afraid that the INS would be waiting in the tunnel for him after the game.

Are there any more Mexican racial slurs that I left out or did I cover all the bases, grandpa?

Shit man, I would personally hate to meet you in real life because you seem like one arrogant fuck; like your word is godly and all powerful and all those who disagree suck someones dick or are taking it up the ass from someone else, or both at the same time.

Like really? Do you seriously have to be that ignorant and arrogant to think that you arent an extremest and that you are a realist?

You know what, you are right. The majority of this board who believe that it takes a whole team or at least multiple players to tank a season are the extremists. And the few who believe that Sanchez is the sole reason why this team hasnt one a SB in his first 3 years (in the NFL), like yourself, are the realists.

At what point does this become trolling...

Oh I acknowledge that fully. I realize the Oline and Receivers sucked, and our running game didn't give Sanchez much help either. I just can't stand people who act like all of those are excuses for Sanchez's poor play when there is a plethora of evidence that shows that Sanchez himself has not played well at all, and that's putting it lightly.

When the 6th overall pick of a draft is ranked in the bottom third of the league in a lot of categories and damn near leads the league in turnovers, forgive me for being disappointed.

For the billionth time, the article takes into account # of times pressured.

You wouldn't think that basic reading comprehension would be too much to ask...

I think most reasonable people on this board acknowledge Sanchez had his issues. We also know that the entire offense sucked. However, it's not like the last 3 years were losing seasons. (no I'm not saying it's because of Sanchez only). Sanchez however, performed well in the playoffs. I think a reasonable person should have the patience to give a 3rd year QB the chance to see if he can right the ship, because we know he can play well. And stop with the draft pick argument, the players don't decide where they're drafted.

    Qb

Why wouldn't those thing completely and utterly effect a young QB?

There is absolutely no way you can ignore those things especially when talking about a young QB, those things absolutely effect a QB in almost every way possible.

He absolutely didn't play well, especially around the end of the season, but when I watched the games I just felt like that was a QB that was completely lost and out of his element because of all of the bullshit that was falling apart around him.

Those things absolutely effected everything with him, I think the big question is if he can overcome that diversity he faced all year long?? Can he learn from the trial and error that was the entire 2011 season?

Let's be honest, he is a talented kid. I don't think anyone can deny that we have seen some really solid QB play from Sanchez through his three years in this league. He has talent, so giving up on him and threads like this are just crazy to me.

You called Pats fans spoiled, and I said they have a right to be, which they do. Because their team is better than yours ... and has been better than yours for 11 years.

Better than mine, too, but I acknowledge that. I realize that it's highly unlikely that my team can challenge the Pats for domination of the AFC until the Bills have new ownership at the very least.

You and many of your fellow Jets fans strut around exuding a sense of entitlement as if your team is somehow owed a Super Bowl because Rex Ryan says your team is great. Well, Earth to Jets fans. Your team is only a step up the ladder from the Bills and the Dolphins talent-wise.

Your HC coach is not nearly the genius you think he is. He's a buffoon. He took Magini's defense and has presided over its gradual decline. He's done nothing at all with the offense. He lost the locker room and didn't even know he'd lost it. I think the word for that is "clueless".

I gave you my opinion as to what I think is Sanchez's main problem. My opinion isn't based on "made up garbage" but on his play. What, exactly, did I "make up"? If you don't like my opinion, I really don't give a damn.

The Jets OL is not the real problem. The Jets WRs are not the real problem. Your QB is the real problem, and unless he fixes himself, a new OC will prove that his predecessor wasn't the real problem, either, despite all this stupid "hybrid/inbred/mutant offense" crap that gets spewed around here.

This may be the first time I have noticed a Patriots fan pretend to be a Bills fan. No use in denying it. It is completely obvious now.

    Still raising the Pats up.

Now raising up a former Pat that you ridiculed for 5 years to further diminish Rex in your tiny mind.

Now trumpeting QB knowledge not like a Bills fan, but very like a Pats fan.

More pretense at understanding the QB situation like some kind of guru.

Man, I knew there was something about you that smelled like rotten chowder. Funny situation, though. You will be speaking the virtues of a great QB duel on Monday, no matter what happens, no doubt about it.

    Try watching this http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-fantasy/09000d5d8263740f/Ravens-defense-sack-5-yd-loss

    or this

Brady didn't have more than 2 seconds in either of those plays. You can't prove anything with a couple of clips. The idea that Sanchez's pressures were consistently "worse" than other QBs pressures (qualitatively not quantitatively) is a huge reach at best.

The one reasonable argument in Sanchez's defense is that an increase in pressures has an indirect effect in addition to the direct effect of plays being blown up. A QB who has stood behind a solid OL for his whole career, then suddenly has to deal with a below average one, is going to be rattled, which affects his play both when he is being pressured and when he isn't. So, in that sense, even a percentage-based statistic isn't fair to QBs with shitty protection.

    1. So when Brady had 2 seconds on his hands with the ball, how much better his WRs look than those playing for the Jets? Didn't Brady eat the dirt too?

    2. Who claimed Sanchez had consistently worse pressures? Link?

Ftr I recognize and mostly agree with all those here who profess disappointment in Sanchez. The Sanchez Fans here are also self deluded the way they pretend all his problems are the fault of others, and how they throw the whole rest of the team under the bus.

It should not be necessary to get even an average performance out of the fifth pick in the draft three years ago by having an EXCELLENT OL and an EXCELLENT RB and EXCELLENT wideouts. No Sanchez Fan can seriously claim the OL has been below average, or the wideouts below average. Yet Mark Sanchez in his third year after all the support he has been given continues to rot in the bottom third of the league's Qb's.

    It's a fact.

    Having said that...

I don't know that it is impossible to see improvement in him this coming season. Maybe some moves can be made, maybe I am wrong and a new OC will in fact unleash the blinding beauty that is Mark Sanchez free of Schotty.

I doubt it, but the real world is he's going to be back next season. I surely wish the Jets add a vet Qb to give him some real competition, but even if that does not happen, the consolation is I feel pretty certain that by this time next year, the debate about Mark Sanchez will perhaps not be totally resolved, but at a minimum some aspects of it will be far more clear.

So we should just give it some time. What other choice do we have?
