That's just too funny. Pelts?!!! lol

Actually the '81 season is when I became a Jet fan. I was in first grade, and my older brother was going to some of the games back then. For the life of me, I couldn't remember who we lost to in the playoffs. Thanks for the info...

    Those were the days.......Great Story

I graduated from Ridgefield High School in 81' and felt proud wearing my #14 JETS jersey every friday to school.
So I graduate from college at SCSU and get my first job at CBS in NYC. One night out in 87' we are throwing darts down in the financial district and I get breifly introduced to Richard Todd who is working at Bear Stearns.
Years go by and I move to Atlanta in 1992. I am living in this high rise apartment complex & I open my door to go out one night and the right acrosss from me opens his door and holy shit its Richar Todd the guy whos jersey I wore in High School.
So we become good freinds, tennis partners, drinking buddies & some legendary nights out in buckhead w/ Marty Lyons, Ken Stabler anong others.
So one night I am in Todd's apartment with another guy Paul Mcdonald (played QB for USC and some pro Clev/Dallas) drinking some beer and waiting for a guy to come over who Todd knows to talk to us about a business prop. Guy knocks on the door Richard opens it and its Matt Robinson...ex Jet. He comes in to pitch us on some crazy MLM scheme......an hour later Todd, Mcdonald & myself each own $5000.00 of sope, vitamins & nutritionals!
We had 2 closets full of this crap for months. The only way we got rid of it was after wild nights in Buckhead & hauling home some 21 year old fluzy, we would send them home in a cab with a bag of sope & vitamins.........Those were the days
I can tell you one thing Todd to this day hated thowing the pick against the Bills & that sloppy Miami game...if you get to know him he is a great guy.....MC

That was a great year sans for the end! Proud to be a Jets fan back then,(and now) and while Shea was a crap-hole, I still kinda miss the Potato Knishes and cheap seats. Todd was The man back then, and yes, so was the Sack Exchange!!! I cant wait for this season to begin since its been sooooooooo long since we had a defense that scared the hell out of anyone! Funny story Atlanta Jet!

Awesome story, Atlanta Jet! Would have LOVED to hang out with you guys. Todd always seemed to me to be a nice guy even though I never met him. Stabler too. He was a party guy!

This is a very close second.
The Gastineau Roughing the Passer games is No 1 for me.
The Pitts playoff game is No. 3.

"when harper fumbled the kickoff - IMO - that started to curse that continues to this day."

That's EXACTLY what I think. I remember the sick angry feeling I got when it happened and from that moment, things just haven't gone right for this team.

I was at that game . I had seats behind the endzone which turned into the Mets picnic area . We had seats in the bleahcers in the first row . You could yell at the kickoff returners and they would turn around and respond to you . What I wouldn't give for the good old days at Shea again !!!

    Great bump.

All this was before my time paying attention to the Jets/football.

Any of you guys care to put these games up as a torrent so they can be downloaded? Maybe the first question I should ask is do any of you that have games know what a torrent is?

I'd have no problem doing it if I knew how to do it.

I have a copy of the WC game
Almost went to the game Could not afford to get tickets

First play of the game was a fumbled kick-off by Bruce Harper
Run in by Bills for TD
First time I ever remember that going against the Jets
Seems like its happened way to often since then

What I like about DVD is the shots of Michaels on the sidelines

He looks like a guy watching the game in a bar instead of the HC
Regular pair of pants hiked just below a beer gut (they may have been green...I'll have to watch the DVD again)
Satin or nylon jet jacket like Arsenio Hall or Eddfie Murphy (I forget who wore it) in "Coming to America...Hands in his pockets just watching the game AND NO HEADSET!!!

Contrast w/Walton, who wore the headset over a backwards cap, hands on knees for every play, intense concentration for every play(as we later learned, he was either at his peak as an OC or he was a good faker!)

Jet fans in the stands look like rowdy bums ( I was one of them, just not that day:metal:)...Shea looking worn down and almost too cramped to fit a football field. After a Bills TD, Jerry Holmes or Johnny Lynn (I think) slams the Bill into the iron girder that formed the bottom of the stands in end zone behind home plate. No big deal... 15 yards on the kick-off

You could see where the stereotypes evolved from

The game was like a microcosm for the season. We start off 0-3-1 an fight our way back to make the play-offs. Along the way we kick the asses of the NYGs(26-7 9 sacks!!!) the Pack (28-3 9 sacks) the Bills (33-14) and pull out a last second victory over the Dolphins. In the WC game, we scramble back from 31-13 (long Joe Cribbs TD - one of many in a long line of Jet killers on the Bills). I remember Todd leading us back. The last minute drive so close. I really expected the Jets to pull it out. I went from sheer euphoria to absolute depression instantaneously when the int was made.

I believe Simpson was on the one when he intercepted to respond to a previous post

Cleveland Divisional play-off in '86 (actually Jan. 3, 1987) was by far the worst Jets loss I ever experienced

"69 to Chiefs, '81 to Bills and '04 to Steelers, while agonizing, all have circumstances which softened the blow

If the games are on DVD, then you can use a free downloadable program such as DVD shrink to copy the DVD contents to the hard disk. You end up with VOB files.

    DVD Shrink Download link
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cd_dvd/copy_dvd/dvd_shrink.cfm

Then follow this to create a torrent and upload it. Torrent clients are free also. I use BitTorrent but uTorrent is good too.

    How to Create a torrent
    http://torrentfreak.com/how-to-create-a-torrent/

When you name the torrent, just include nyjets or something simplistic in it. It will make it easier to share.

If you actually get around to doing this, just let us know when complete and I'll run my client and search for it.

I have transferred a bunch to DVD but I still have a bunch on tape. Once my wife and I started having kids I lost most of my free time to transfer to DVD:grin: I am pretty positive I transferred the '81 WC game so I'll see if I can upload that this weekend. Thanks for the links.
